I realize this is:

A) Last minute
B) Holiday
C) Weekday

But...

I'm doing my transmission swap tomorrow morning in the driveway if anyone wants to turn a wrench. I'm not dependent on the help but it is always appreciated.

Happy new year to all

Not sure... Pops and I are making an early Ace hardware and Home Depot run, we might be out in the shop at 9:30 ish if I had to guess? Still have to get the completely stripped transfer drain plug off the new case so I can drain it... And figure out how to attach clutch fork to slave.

Moved to Thursday!

Weld a nut to the plug, then turn the nut. Easy when you have a welder!

I got it out earlier today.

Freshly "rebuilt"

(Rattle bombed silver and fixed a leak)

It's going in tomorrow

Transmission swap is going well, just a few odds and ends to finish up in the morning.

-figure out the wiring (I'm an electrical goober)
-torque transmission bolts
-bleed clutch
-put some exhaust sections back in.
-do sick burnouts
-(???)

Exited for tomorrow...

Here's some photos of the past few days, some of my dad and Dominick working while I slack off and take photos.

This thing is a heavy m*****f*****!

It's heavy cuz you left the transfer case attached! Most normal humans put than on after the tranny is up ;)

Never took the other case off the manual trans either, rebuilt with 5000 miles and I didn't feel a need.

The auto still was at least three times the weight.

Drove it this morning, so happy with the results. Totally opens up the motor. Very exited to drive on the highway.

yehhhhh good job matt. i was wondering if you got it drive-able yet.. that trans was a bit-o-work to get in there and bolted up. made my axel swap seem easy in comparison.

I have the worlds only 2WD FJ62... At least until I figure out what to do about a T-case shifter.

I would like to do this to mine one day. Whats the deal with the T case shifter?

Installed a factory transfer case shifter from an 81-84 FJ60.
