One of the things i love about the LC transmissions is the PWR and 2ND buttons.
The 2ND button is great for when in 4LO so you don't have that jerky, stay in 1st too long transmission shift everytime you start off.

I was wondering, (specifically for the A750 trans) can these buttons and wiring be easily applied to other vehicles with this transmission? Or, is this something programmed into a whole trans ECU and not easily adapted?

What i am hoping, is that these buttons would connect to a wire harness that simply plugs into something that all A750s have on them.

Any ideas?

Simple switches... the magic is in the TCU.

Is the TCU a standalone item that could be pulled from say a salvage yard rig? As in, you'd need the switches, the TCU and thats it? Or is it integrated into the engine ECU?

The TCU is programed for the engine and ECU its married to.

What Vehicle has the a750 you're trying to "upgrade"?

Just wondering if it could be transferred to an FJC.

If someone could figure out how to change the shift patterns when using cruise control on the FJC they'd be a millionarie. On mine, it would routinely drop down two gears when simply going up an overpass. End up going 4-5mph over the set speed by the time you went over the pass.

I've driven a few FJ's and always noticed that. I figured something was wrong but after the 3rd one I figured it was just normal.

It would probably be easier/faster to just swap in the 2UZ/A750/ECU/TCU from a 100 into the FJC.......plus TRD already did it once......with off the shelf parts no less.

The FJC brochures were always bragging about how they came up with some AI for the A750 to make the shifting pattern better, which is probably why the buttons aren't there......however from what i have heard it was a bit of a failure

I would just manually shift it - I do it in my 100. I did it in my Audi.

I shift all the time. When I'm in stop and go traffic I leave it in 1st gear. I downshift almost all the time (I get a little crackling and backfire ). I wish I had a manual 100

It turns your cruiser from a mall cruising , gas sucking , soccer mom SUV , into a kick A$$ off road beast that gets good mpg and can climb hills in a single bound. PWR up......

Or the pwr button simply changes the shift points (in terms of RPM / load). Holding gears a bit longer under acceleration for an extra 500rpms, for example.

i know it has been discussed a bit, but has anyone seen better gas mileage with the power button on with larger tires and no regear? Or is it always worse due to the higher rpm?

I've used it and not noticed anything significantly different, in two different Toy cars over 6 years now. I don't see higher RPM's all the time either. More like longer hold of gear under acceleration or a wuicker shift down when lugging. I think your driving style matters most for MPG. Second most IMO is the amount of unnecessary gear were carrying that adds to weight or loss of aero dynamics.

If you drive conservatively, you probably won't notice shift patterns change.

Try accelerating on to the interstate more aggressively with it on and then off. The RPMs go a good bit higher before it changes gears with the button on.

edit: NVM i thought you were referring to "not seeing anything different" as the RPMs, not mileage.
