So I've noticed my transmission having problems on my 89 FJ62. On the road when I hit the gas it will miss the gear and I'll red line. I'll have to pull off the gas pedal until it catches. Now this doesn't happen every time but enough to make me concerned. Today I went to put it in the low gear on the shifter and it wouldn't go in(not to be confused with low-range in 4wd). Then all the other gears were off, for instance the "drive" was neutral and "Neutral" was drive. It would stay that way until I would put it in park, then everything would line back up. Is it time for the H55 or is this something I can try to fix? And FYI all the fluids are good.

New shifter bushings from Toyota are less than $5.

Have you done a flush? if not, how old is the fluid?

Are you saying it didn't go in to drive and was in neutral instead, or it was flaring between say 2nd and 3rd gear after setting off from a stop normally?

Are all the behaviors shifted the same way from what is displayed on the shift assembly? If so, Benjamin is likely right on with it being play or misadjustment in the linkage. Or is it sort of random miss of what the tranny does?

I'll flush the fluid tomorrow and check out the bushings for sure!

And I'm sorry if the post was confusing it doesn't help being new and half-retard, but I was saying it was in gear on the neutral position. And yes it feels like all the gears are shifted one off. But only when I try to put it in low, and they shift back to normal when I put it back in park.
