I just noticed after leaving the truck parked for 4 days that when reading the transmission dipstick it reads on the two high notches (HOT full), but after driving the trucks for a couple of hours and hot it also reads on the two high notches.
The bottom line is that it does not matter if the engine is warm or cold, the transmission dipstick is always reading on the high two notches.

Is this ok? It is my understanding that it should read on the low two notches when cold. (COLD full)

Thanks,

I have noticed the samething with my 96.
Seems to shift good so I have never stressed about it.

The varying internal characteristics of auto trannies determine which models show how much of a difference between their hot and cold marks. Don't worry about it, but do be sure to check it properly. The most important check of all is as follows:

Engine hot (best arriving home from a drive).
Park on a level surface.
Put in Park, then D, then R, then back to Park.
Leave engine idling (many forget this!!)
Pull and wipe the dipstick, then get a reading which should be at the hot mark.

It is just as hard on your tranny to drive with too much oil in it as it is to drive low. OK to be slightly overfilled, but not quarts over.

Do this check properly and ignore the rest. The cold is really there in the event of a transmission drain and fill or a rebuild to allow the mechanic to get enough tranny fluid in the unit so he can then start and warm it for the proper check - adding until he sees the hot full mark.
