In the middle of doing a reseal of transmission and transfer case and discovered what I think is too much play in the output shaft bearing. Does anyone know how much play, if any, should be in the bearing? I can grab it and wiggled it around which seems too much in my mind.
thanks, Matt

It's a tapered roller bearing so yes it will be loose when not being held tightly by the rear bearing race. However that bearing's outer cage looks blackened by heat/old oil so I would replace it due to that - however the inner output shaft bearing is probably due as well so might as well properly rebuild the case.
