Does anyone know if a part time converted transfer case needs more or less gear oil than the oem set up?

Thanks

Just fill it until it comes out the fill port like normal. I wouldn't think it makes any difference part time or not.

I'm just trying to figure out if I have enough gear oil or I need to get another quart.

The service manual will tell you the oil capacity of the t-case.
Of course it will...... The question is how does installing a part time kit in the transfer case affect the capacity. The service manual does not give specifications for aftermarket changes to the internals of the transfer case.

Like when you install arb lockers in the diff it lowers the fluid capacity.

I'm pretty sure on the newer (HF2AV) cases, the removal of the viscous coupling allows for a higher fluid capacity.

It must hold more because last time I changed all my gear oil I sourced 2 gallons for the t case and diffs. I had a buddy change the fluid while he was doing some exhaust work for me on the rig and he had to use more than the 2 gallons to finish the job.

He never told me how much extra he needed. I am going to get 9 quarts this time and hope it's enough for all 3.
