Was going to install a Hayden 678 Trans Cooler, and found this mounting solution from Kaon. From the website and install video, all their Prado 150's appear to be diesel. Would anyone know if this cooler mount would line up the same with our US-spec GX's? I would think that the radiator support and lower mount would be the same on all GX's. Looks like a real clean way to mount the cooler and not have to relocate the horns. Thoughts?

Interested in this as well. I am 87.5% sure it will line up with the US spec GX460. and its not super expensive

Not on a 460, but I am using the Kaon Prado 120 brackets on my GX470 with the Hayden 678. The upper mount lines up fine, but the lower bracket needed a new hole drilled into it to line up with the hole on the radiator support. It was an easy fix.

Just FYI, you can pretty easily make brackets yourself our of aluminum or steel flat stock. Cutting can be done with a dremel or hacksaw. You can bend the flatstock cleanly using a vice and hammer. I'm going to custom-fab some brackets when I mount a cooler in my GX470 later this year.

There is a whole thread in here that installs the rest of the world factory transmission cooler.

Any update on this mount?

I originally looked at this mount but ended up going with the Mountain Passes Off Road mount found on Facebook. I noticed last week that Goliath Offroad now makes one for the 460. On sale right now for $99 like the Mountain Passes it is for the Hayden 678\698 cooler.

I've done my share of making my own stuff and thought about bar stock in a vise and the BFH. Then drilling the holes, etc. like Rednexus did. But I'm at the point in my life for ~$100 will pay someone else that has gone through the hassle of doing it.

If I was in the South or some city with stop and go traffic I'd be tempted to follow some of the 470 crowd and install a Mishimoto 6" fan in front of it as well.

I'm like you, but more for paying people for maintenance. I still like to fab something every once in a while if it's within the scope of my tools and time.
For non-critical stuff that may go in the cab, I use my 3D printer. A lot easier to draw something on the screen and print than the 'BFH' method.

Thanks for the heads up on Goliath Offroad! I will be ordering one of those brackets shortly. I gave up on the Mountain Passes bracket when all I could find were Facebook links (I don't Facebook, sorry).

Yeah Mountain Passes can be a little hard to reach - but once you've connected with Steve he's really on top of it.

I tried the Kaon mount because I didn't know about the mountain pass off road, it's not meant for the GX, I had to modify it significantly and it's a compromise. I actually just found out about the goliath off road bracket which is a bit cheaper than mountain passes so I may try that one.

Thanks! I went ahead and picked up the Goliath Off Road bracket, it came in yesterday.

I currently have the Mountain Pass on both of my GX; I just dislike how protruded it is versus the OEM cooler.

However, I will say the Hayden 698 did an awesome job managing transmission temperatures on my recent trip.

Logged 1500 miles round trip with a vehicle that was pretty heavily loaded.
2 adults, 1 teenager and a little one and all the bags that go with them. Add in a Dobinson's rear drawer, loaded CFX3-45 refrigerator, dometic PLB45, starlink, and an extra battery. Plus both drawers were loaded.

Ambient temperature was between 25-60degrees. During the cooler temperatures my transmission stayed at a consistent 145-158deg. Mountain climbs required 2nd or 3rd gear with about 30-50% throttle. Pan temperature hung around 175-190 at the peak with a TQ temperature of around 200-215. Reaching the peak and leveling off, the temperature cooled back to 150ish within about 5 minutes of mild driving.

As we got back to 80+ degree weather, interstate driving I was a consistent 175deg on the interstate running 70-80mph.

OEM "thermostat" is pinned.

Perfect.

So are your plans to remove the Mountain Passes bracket and replace it with the Goliath Off Road? Does it look like it sits back further if you do? Still haven't installed my 698 yet and the Mountain Passes bracket is in the garage. Still a bit cool here to pin the thermostat and I don't start towing for another month yet. Not against getting and installing the Goliath instead of the Mountain Passes if in your opinion it is a better solution.

Well, I have both. The Mountain pass is really good quality and sturdy for sure. It just sits way out in front of the condenser. Comparing the two, the Goliath Offroad bracket looks like it sits more in the OEM position.

I'll get the Goliath mounted up and see how it is compared to the Mountain Pass bracket. I really wanted to try the Kaon, but it apparently won't fit properly. IT looks like the AC condenser mount gets in the way of the hoses. Hard to tell; I have yet come across anyone who has one installed on a GX....

I removed the Mountain Pass Offroad cooler bracket and got the Goliath Offroad bracket installed this weekend on one of my GX. Spraypainted black enamel to blend in as well.

VERY, VERY nice fitment. It is recessed and much closer to the condenser versus being 6"-8" out. I feel the mountain pass bracket is significantly more durable and heavy duty, however the Goliath Offroad bracket is very strong and rigid as well.

Goliath has a cross brace that X across the back of the cooler where as the Mountain Pass does not. Mountain pass cooler focuses on incredibly strong sides and mounting points. Mountain pass comes painted with a heavy duty black paint; Goliath offroad comes zinc coated metal.

Either cooler bracket you can NOT go wrong, both are built very, very well. I prefer the Golith as it sits closer to the condenser and is much more recessed. Both function exactly the same and both provide no difference in cooling ability of the Hayden 698.

I have two Mountain Pass brackets for sale if anyone is interested. One has been used for 2 months, the other is NIB.
