My transmission (700R4) has been leaking a little for quite a while now, where the shift rod goes in on the side. However, it isn't that much, at least not enough to fool with (for now).
Recently though, the front output on the t-case has been leaking, and I put a pan under it over the weekend (sat. afternoon until monday afternoon) while I was gone out of town. When I got back, I saw that quite a bit of fluid had leaked out. However, the kicker is that it looks like mostly ATF. I would estimate it at about a 1/2 pint while I was gone.
I can't see anywhere on the tranny that it would be leaking towards the back, so I'm guessing it is leaking through the adapter, into the t-case, and out the front...?
I know I need a new t-case output flange and seal, but now I'm worried that all I'll be doing is trapping ATF in the t-case.
Any ideas? This is puzzling, b/c I rebuilt the t-case last summer, so the seals in the adapter and rear of the tranny are practically brand new.
Thanks for any help,
Travis
