Hey Guys ... Love my 80 series ... my machine has fairlly low miles and very well maintained .
When I gave machine the once over cleaned and check all the adustments ... I cleaning the throttle body ... no one ever did and someone adusted it acording to a dirty body ...the throttle plate lots of build up .
So after cleaning the body she purred like a new kittle I did all the adjustment acording to the factory service manual .
It still once the truck is shifting into over drive has a abrupt shift that feels a tad bit off .
I did re-adjust the cable ...it just effects the shift point and not the feeling ...it kind-a feels like a shift kit .
Do these transmissions suppose to feel that way ...this my first 80 .
The truck runs great and shifts fine besides that .
The fluid looks clean I was going to do a service on the fluid .
Thanks guys .

Too much fluff; not enough specifics: What year rig; i.e., which tranny?

Its a 1996 with an auto trans ... I set the distance of the tranny cable to the 1mm like book said ... but I have tired to move it either way just a hair and it only effected shift point not feel of the shift .
It feels like it has shift kit ...these no slipping but like a hard shift from 3rd to 4th ... rpms are around 2000 at that point and speed is around 52 mph.
But when I run the truck with the power button on ...the shift is much better .
It's something I can live with ...dose Toyota use any kinda friction modifier in the transmission ... I know some of the dodge diesel trannys use it .
Thanks Guys
