1. Hello
2. Just bought my first Toyota an 89 FJ-62 and heard there is some good info here. I have been a Jeep Cherokee guy for about a decade but have always been a fan of any solid axle SUV, especially the Land Cruiser.
3. I've checked the FAQ and did a search but cannot locate my exact situation. Cruiser starts fine and idles a tad rough and high 1100-1200 RPM but when I put it in R/D/3/2/L the RPMs lower to 800. The kicker is when I drive the motor hesitates between 1500 and 2100 RPM about 75% of the time...doesn't matter whether D/3/2/L.
I checked all the fluids are within limits (tranny could use a change and will in a day of so) and changed out the fuel filter (seemed like a good place to start?). I have the MAF 62 Ignition kit on the way, a PCV and a TPS. Judging from my Cherokee (blasphemy I'm sure) I'm betting it is the TPS.
Any thoughts on the high Idle? Any thoughts on the hesitation with the tranny engaged?
TIA
