Found the suggestions on Wolf Pen gap and made a run up there this weekend from Dallas. Not too bad of a drive and plenty of roads to explore. Thanks for posting up the tips! I stopped by the ranger station in Mena and got some maps. Really glad I did as I had no cell service the entire time I was in the woods. Paid an extra $10 and got a nice one of the entire Ouichita National Forest. Didn't get to see everything so for sure need to make a trip back up! No action shots as I made the trip solo but PLENTY of poser pics :flipoff2:

Thx for the update and nice looking 100 !

Did you camp or stay in a cabin somewhere ? Recommendations ?

Thanks! I setup camp as it was getting dark off of Trail 1 of the Wolf Pen Gap trails at a campsite. There are quite a few along the way and the ranger said you can camp anywhere you want in the park. It was not too busy out there, I was the only vehicle as the rest of the people I ran I to were on ATV's. Next time I'd like to go off on some of the other trails but need another truck with me for that, just in case.

I started at the South Trailhead off hwy 375 and made my way up Trail 1/510 (green on the map). Then took a left and went up Trail 2/277 (yellow) towards the West Trailhead.

I missed one key piece of info in your warning. The area leading up to Ouachita and surrounding it are DRY. I stopped to grab a bite at The Branding Iron Café (which by the way has a bread bar, crushed it) and asked the waitress where the closest beer store was. Her reply was "Oklahoma".

All in all a really fun, impromptu trip. Was just kind of winging it and wanted to get out of the city for a little bit. Mission Accomplished.
