Trails on the way to Moab

I'm going to leave a couple days early to hit some trails in Colorado on my way to Cruise Moab. I'm thinking Imogene and maybe Black Bear, but I'm not sure. Any other suggestions or favorites in the Ouray/Telluride area for a quick fix on the way out there? I know there are hundreds.

You may want to call and make sure the trails you want to do are open. If the snow is really deep Black Bear probably won't be open till June. If the mountains in that area got as much snow as Wolf Creek, 37 feet, it'll be while before any trails are passible.

I wouldn't plan on those trails opening before July. We've had a ton of snow this year. But even in the worst of years they wouldn't be open in late April.

So what is I70 like at the end of April, do you need to bring chains along? Or is it pretty much cleared up?

there will probably be snow on the passes if you go over whichever day i go over (it always snows when i go over), but you most likely won't need chains (unless you're in a class 6-8 truck)

Last year there was a blizzard over most of the passes coming home from cruise Moab.

No way any trails will be open here that early either.

I guess that means a couple extra days at Arches. Woe is me.

Plenty of stuff like the swell, maze, arch canyon/hotel rock, dark canyon, white rim, beef basin to explore while out there.
