Need to install a wire harness for a trailer hook up as my LX doesn't have the wiring receptacle. Anyone install one and where did you install the receptacle? Pictures would be great! Thanks for the replies.

surprised you don't have one from the factory. you may be looking in the wrong place. my '11 7 pin female connector is way off to the side on the passenger side. it looks factory as there is a unique bracket holding it on. its so far off center that I've had to extend the trailer wires on all of my trailers.

There should be 2 female plugs - below the gas filler. Rear passenger side. Between the frame and spare tire. One light grey and one dark grey.

Depending on your rig - you will need one of these. 2013 Lexus LX 570 Trailer Wiring | etrailer.com

It should work even without an electronic brake controller - which you also have a plug for behind the dash below the rpm cluster. There is a thread on it -- Trailer Brake Controller Connector

Really easy to do. Let me know if you need more information or help.

Thank you.

Is this correct part number for 2008 lx570

82169-60080 oem trailer harness

Does anyone have any tips on the DRL lights not running at night, or any lights for that matter, when hauling a trailer?

Could very well be a faulty towing tail light converter. I’ve replaced a few on Toyota SUVs.

edit: I think I figured out problem. The part I bought is supposed to be plugged into driver side. I’ll try that.

I am trying to hook up tow lights on my 2011 LX570. I installed the 7 pin receptacle harness (from etrailer) on the passenger side, but the trailer light signals all read reverse polarity / negative voltage and will not turn on trailer lights properly. I feel like I’m missing something.

I removed the 7 pin harness and checked voltage at the harness connection (passenger rear under car) and same readings, negative voltage / polarity. The only possible thing I can think of is if the tow relay converter is bad, but it behaves perfectly except for reverse polarity

There are several plug standards, it’s likely something simple like that.

Using this particular part (Hopkins 7 pin harness Etrailer), it has to be installed on driver side only (even though the passenger side will accept the plug ends). Basically unplug the 2 clips that connect the harness run from driver side to pass side, and install the Hopkins kit on driver side. There is no mount for the standard 7pin bracket on driver side, so I just used some bolts and mounted to some of the bumper metal under the plastic cover.

All that to say…. driver side OR passenger side depending upon which brand kit you purchase.
