can rent ya my 83"x22' tilt trailer with 8k winch:D

best is to put a gauge to monitor temp then decide the options IMHO

I plan on doing a tranny cooler once I finish it. An see how heavy it is. Plus it would cool temps on the trail down a decent bit too.

I think long hauls or hills it would help a lot... Most trucks come with one due to the towing they estimate the vehicle will do.

I towed 5,000+ pounds for 19,000+ miles without a transmission cooler. So, I'm not sure what the answer would be. It's cheap and easy to install. I should have done it but I was too busy with other stuff.

what a terrible problem to have :)
You can make it work, I've got tranny cooler and intercooler on my car stuffed in there.

no specific brand, came with the setup I bought, only about an inch thick

If I was piecing it together, probably something like this one...

don't really know what size would be best, but as others have said, they have pulled alot without one, so any cooling would be better.

Well, with my typical expertise, I was thinking that a transmission cooler went under the vehicle. I was worried about smashing it up offroad. So it goes under the hood, huh? What do you know!

Kevin, we shouldn't need one with the trailers we're getting from Sean, should we? They are pretty light.

Yes, but altitude and driving off road can raise transmission temp, decreasing transmission life. For 55 bucks and 1 hour install time, It can't hurt.

and pushing extra horsepower from a super charger

how about a custom twin turbo setup instead :bounce:

I bought a used Maserati with twin turbos. Beautiful car, a 425 sedan - and a huge piece of s***. Italians should stick to making shoes, not cars. I mean, parts would fall off of it. The mechanic eventually told me to stop bringing it to him.

Kevin, if you buy one, get two. I'll pay you back pronto of course. I'll add it to my collection.

reminds me of a Top Gear episode (original British version) where Clarkson had the same experience with one... Marac or soemthing like that. The engine had diarrhea all over the motorway, done.
