I have the trailer harness installed on 80. Any Idea where to get the part that plugs in here and goes to trailer I would like to get both the 4pin and the round 6 in circle plus ground in center one. It has a"T-harness" between the tail lights. Just missing the "tail" that plugs in to go to the trailer. The "down" leg of the "T" The Pict shows the plug in point.

Would something like this work for you: 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Hopkins Comes with a 4 plug flat connector, but you can convert it to what ever you might need.

It is a pop up Tent trailer with round 6 pin with middle ground (so 7 pin?) connector. Use adapter? but then it wont charge trailer battery. I'd like to get the trailer brakes working to so need a controller. Maybe I'm in over my head

Convert it to the larger 7 pin. That's what seems to be the standard now a day. It's just a matter of getting out the VOM and figuring out what wires do what. A couple of beers, and you should be good to go....

Seven is the style for electric brakes on a trailer. My 2000 hundred series and 2000 Tundra were p ly wired for the four pin. Never heard of a 80 series being with a seven pin plug. To wire for a seven pin will require additional wiring to the front to do it the correct way. Besides allowing the adjustment of how hard to apply the trailer brake and how fast that ramp up you can also apply the trailer brakes without the vehicle brakes which is handy if the trailer starts to fishtail. Can't do that using only the wires in that plug.

I put the hopkins in my 80, no cut wires, if you want brakes you will have to run a separate wire from a brake controller, power from the battery and anything else, then figure all of the wiring for that out. The 7 pin has a spot for power and an extra, for say a back up light.. Most factory hitches I've seen on 80's had the converter tucked in one of the sides and was a typical cheap converter to accommodate the stop/tail light signal combo vs. the separate ones on the 80. Wire for a good ground too, that causes a lot of problems if not done right later on. You can just cut off the four wire connect then rewire or just get an adapter then wire up to the 7 way and I believe the center pin is the ground. Google the correct wiring pattern and then wire all your stuff the same and it is nice to just hook up and go on any other trailers you have

I just got the Hopkins. Can you explain where it plugs in. The instructions look like inside the interior rear panels.
