I don't know any place that does sandblasting, but I do know that you can buy a sandblaster at harbor freight for less than 50 bucks. It might be worth it, although it could take a pretty long time.

I have just been using a wire brush wheel on an angle grinder so far.

I have no place to do the sand blasting myself plus I've heard too many peoply mentioning the danger to your lungs.... silicosis. I know there are other mediums you can use besides sand but price seems to climb rather high at that point.

I found a guy who has service manuals for these trailers. Cost is $30.

Price is too high since there isnt really anything about these trailers where a manual is needed. Might be nice to have though.

Anyone interested? Perhaps we can pitch in and buy one and then make an electronic copy to share. Just a thought.

Already available for free. Ask Jared where.

Caution, rumor has it that the camouflage paint on these trailers contain a toxic chemical (cyanide maybe?).

or it might be hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI). commonly used in such military paint to harden beyond that of ordinary paint. typicall military overbuilding stuff, but from canada i figured it would just be a waterbased paint by numbers sort of camo :flipoff2:

lars they may be out of buisiness, i do not have a number, found them in the sunday classified section a couple years back. real small shop but cheap!

There is a M101 yahoo group that has the manual available for download. You have to join for download privledges. They also have a bunch of other usefull stuff. They seem to be slowly getting replacement part numbers for everything.

I have the manual. It is a very large PDF. I could email it if you want it without joining, but it might not make the trip.

Any idea what level of protection I would need to take to safely grind the paint on these trailers?

No offense taken. :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: Just wanted to give sjpitts the heads up before wire brushin' away.

LOL trailer,,,,

pitts i believe a fine partical mask is all you need, dont need anything for gas vapors as you will be throwing solids in the air.
read the fine print on the masks before you buy and make sure its a .?? micron filter, you want more protection than a saw dust mask.

Latest from Michele. How much you want to bet she is yanking our chains?

"Hi

A note to let everyone know that everything that was missing including paperwork is now on the way, I apologize if I didn’t get back to anyone as my computer was only working sporadically and with the problems with my email server I had I don’t know if there is anyone that was missing a reply due to that computer glitch. We’ve all had it at one time or another and it is part of the burden of owning and relying on a computer so for that I apologize and hope all is well.

Thanks

Michele"

I've decided to sandblast my trailer. Anyone know of or can reccommend a local shop that does this type of thing?

Also, I can confirm the bearing and seal numbers I posted earlier are correct. Finished replacing the bearings today. Pretty easy. With the right tools it would take about an hour or two to do both sides.

Envirostrip, around 7th st and I-10. He can handle complete cars. pretty reasonable too, when you consider the time it takes to remove paint by other methods. I had him do a few parts on my Mustang project.

I feel for you dude. Not to excuse bad buisness, but it is a bad time of year to make things happen in Canada or the North East for that matter.

If I was in your deal I would drive up and meet face to face, and see for myself what is the hold up.

hang in there for the happy ending
