Since David decided to give us at Urban LC a christmas bonus, I can finally afford the hydro assist I need...

I drive my truck a lot on the road just because I like to, and I don't want a 2" ram because of the lag, so its either a 1.5 or 1.75" ram.

I'm tapping my 60 box, just need ram, rod ends, and lines.

Not so sure I like Trail-Gear's history, but you can't argue with the price.
$200 for a ram with ends, brackets, and lines and $50 cheaper than RockLogic, and about $75 cheaper than West Texas.

Basically, I'm just making sure that I'm not making a mistake with Trail-gear's ram before I pull the trigger. Haven't seen any reviews, or even heard of anyone buying it.

Thanks for any input.

I'm proud to say I don't have any or will ever have any of trail gears CRAP on my rig.

I've read quite a bit of good stuff on Trail Gear's hydro kit...

I have their axle reinforcement stuff in the shop now, seeing if the products for the mini front housing will work on the FJ40 front housing or not...hope to have some more work done on that in the next couple weeks...NICELY formed pieces tho.

charles, nice of you to post AGAIN about your opinion of TG....jebus

looks like a good kit, when the time comes ill look into it for my truck!
i do know that anything myself or my roomate has orderd from them has been shipped quick and free, his SAS needed some parts exchanged and they worked with him to get everything right!

i try to stay out of the politics of it all.. =)

I highly recommend PSC motorsports. They are the best in steering as far as I am concerned. They have excellent service and turnaround. They made me a 12" stroke cylinder for my 80 and built a pump sized to the system. Kelvin is the person I deal with.

holy crap a 12" stroke!!! Are you able to turn the wheels at a 90?

EDIT 10" stroke. A 80 series steering stroke at the tie rod is 9-5/8"

Thanks for the input...

Didn't see the PSC sale when I looked at their site last night.

Went ahead and got T-G's kit on its way, should have it installed before the end of next week. :D

This will be my third major change in P/S in just 2 years. Ready for something that works.

I must have done something wrong on my 80 axle 'cause I only needed a 7" stroke ram, but that's neither here nor there.

Bailey, I ordered the kit for my mini-truck and have it here. To be honest I haven't completely unwrapped it, but for the money and the convenience, I think it's a helluva deal. FYI, the hoses look to be well made and the fittings properly constructed etc.(the hoses are the only part I've unwrapped ;) )

Also, woody, for the ball gussets, be careful, I installed them on my mini-axle, got the whole thing reassembled and then realized they interfered a bit with the felt retainers. Not a huge deal by itself, but I had to dismantle again to grind them down a bit. Just fair warning.

Depends where you mounted it? I am mounting mine behind the axle.

I did a double-ended ram with the arms flipped side to side using the "tie-rod" sides of the arms in front. Are you using the draglink arm and a single ended ram? The draglink arm is longer than the tie-rod arms.

Marlin doesn't have any hydro rams/kits...

If they did it would be a different story...

Anyone else with any experience/input?

Then talk to Matt at West Texas Off-Road and get the Redneck Ram... Been around for a lot longer than Trail-Mart and is typically cheaper as well.

I checked West Texas... it was not cheaper...

If I was going to pay for my box to be ported it would have been sent to him...

I dig on my PSC ram, it was 250 for everything you need. I run a 1.75" ram steering is not too slow and I have yet to stall it.

Post up the link to what you picked up...
