i would do the trade in a heartbeat. but talk to the guy first and see if you can work out a deal with him. i would go check out the rig.

not really sure on that, you have to determine the value of your 4runner, see how much the 4runner's sell for. im really picky, when i was looking for my cruiser, i specifically looked for one thats never been wheeled. in the pics, looks like this cruiser was wheeled but nothing too crazy. most importantly, call the guy and see if he wants your 4runner :)

the 95 cruiser was the first year to use airbags and also uses a obdII system. the engine is pretty much the same from 93-97. i wouldent hesitate to purchase the 93-94 cruisers. common issue with the 1FZ is there cooling system. ask for any service records that involve the cooling system components, and make sure there is no headgasket issues. if he has not used the lockers, you should verify to make sure they are still functioning, put in 4 low and engage the front and rear locker (dirt preferred) it will take time but eventually the lights will stop blinking and the lockers will be engaged.

thanks for the info!! i will make sure to ask those questions if he is wanting to trade.

yea no problem man, im sure you will get many more responses in this thread, when its morning.

honestly i would wait for one with a better body. that rear quarter wont be cheap to fix .
these trucks are trading in this price range already.
i dont know what your rig is worth but it seems to be in better condition.

X2 what Raynyc said.
You will find a cleaner rig than this for the money.
The lift is worth something, but that is a serious ding on the rear fender, and there appears to be some sort of jerry rigged tape or something on the intake just over top of the valve cover.
I would go 6-6500 maybe. Not sure what your 4runner is worth, but it looks to be in much better shape than this rig. And that would be a step down in my mind.
Not that the 80 couldn't be fixed...

Good luck,

Doug

I would do a trade (plus cash) if he is interested.
It is usually a good sign if people selling cars have a higher asking price. They value their vehicle more and you have some more 'play' by pointing ou that his price is to high. If I shop around for a vehicle I usually try and find one that is overpriced and work my way down from there.

Your 4runner is in a lot better shape that this LC so he will have to bring some money for sure. How much is pretty much up to you, whatever you feel comfortable with.
The problems with the 80 aren't that major by the looks of it (but what do I know, I don't even have an 80 :meh:). You could use the money he brings to fix up the 80 and baseline it.
Good luck.

Since you said you don't know anything about LC80s I would forget about that trade for now. Dig into the 80 FAQ section and learn as much as you can to see what you are getting yourself into. I have a 3rd gen Runner and a LC so I can tell you they are NOTHING alike.

Looking at your thread I see you just graduated HS. CONGRATS! I know nothing about your life or plans, but an 80's MPG sucks ass compared to the 4runner and maintenance, parts and mods are usually more $$ too.

That being said, I would definatly get an 80, but I would try to sell the 4runner THEN buy an 80. You will probably come out better that way. You should be able to get ATLEAST 8000 for your truck. I would pay about 6000 for his.

My $0.02.

I second this. You should read about 80's for a long time before you decide to buy one. Seriously consider the cost of ownership compared to your runner. If I were in your shoes I'd keep the 4runner through college and treat yourself to an 80 when you graduate.

Where's the fun in that?! ;)

I say do your research for a couple months and then get the Land Cruiser.

As long as you're not putting yourself in debt, you're good to go.

Read the FAQ. Know the vehicle inside-out before you buy one.

And bring this along when you go to look: http://www.sleeoffroad.com/newbie/newbie100.htm

i think i have seen that guy on the forum before , if not the shop he is front of for sure
Yea I remember seeing that white one posted before. By someone asking if they should get it IIRC. CO plates in CA is why I remember.

PO, good luck on your quest for an 80. Take your time and get educated before looking at any of them seriously.

I would do the trade. The 1995 is a good year, the lift looks good, people from Cupertino have money and don't really use things very hard, the rig looks like it is in good shape and stock lockers are a plus. Get a little money on his side, put a ARB winch bumper or something else on it and call it good. You'll be happy with the extra room, the sturdier rig and all.

I have had plenty of 4runners and am now on my first land cruiser...I would take your time and sell your 4runner. Get the most you can for it, then take your time buying a land cruiser.

I just did that with my 97 4runner and couldn't be happier.
