Just wondered if any of you ever go there? I generally run all my big stuff thru @beno and will continue to do so, but from time to time I just need something trivial that is easier to just point at the screen and say that's it. So I was wondering firstly, does STLCA have a relationship with any local dealerships? And if not, Would enough folks be interested in dealing with the dealership to reach out and try to establish a relationship. Possibly work out a club discount, but mostly just build the network.

Just curious. Murfreesboro might be closer to some, I was just at CS yesterday ordering up some misc. hardware and will be back tomorrow to pick up my stuff and was thinking I might talk to the parts manager.

Hey,

I have called them for prices on several things and they are full retail so I haven't bought anything from them. I use a couple of sites with parts diagrams and order online for about 1/2 of CST's prices.

I've dealt with Cool Springs and Murfreesboro for parts. I've had better luck with the customer service at Murfreesboro. Murfreesboro has matched their online prices for walk in customers on most items. Cool Springs would not do that.

I get the pricing thing plays into the mindset, and if Murfreesboro has better Customer Service and seems more approachable then I'm down. I was really more curious what the general thoughts were about trying to establish a relationship with a local dealership as a club. I'm in the general area of Murf with some regularity but haven't been in yet. I go by CS twice a day on days I go to the office is why I stopped there and why I happen to bring it up.

I just drove by the CS location today and was wondering the same thing.

I actually met a sales rep who worked at Murf Toyota a few months back and he was really nice and not your average "car salesman"

I guess my general thought is that right now neither place has any reason to treat us any different than the average guy off the street, but if we can cultivate a relationship with either or both dealerships, then perhaps that would open the door to other conversations to possibly include club discounts or even possible GSMTR sponsorship, etc.

I'm gonna get a minute with the parts guy when I go get my stuff and just see where it goes. If nothing else I might meet another gearhead.

I go there some to buy oil filters, timing belts, anything I need in a hurry. Mike who works in the parts area has a really nice red 40 that has been on display there before. He is a nice guy who likes to talk about his cruiser!

Matt not sure of the parts guy name but I have bought parts from the Coolsprings dealer. But I was face to face and once he knew I was a STLCA/TLCA member he gave me a great price. I posted it somewhere here back when I first started building the 4 Runner.

Nice, thanks Rocky.

I'll say my customer service encounter with CS was over the phone. Maybe the guy was having a bad day.

I say we establish a relationship with both dealers. And I was thinking the same thing about seeking GSMTR sponsorship.

Brandon no longer works at CS he took a new job down in Columbia. He would always match any price I found online but now Robert and Mike will not.

Guys -

I had the worst possible experience ever at Toyota Cool Springs with an 04 Cruiser I had for a few months - I let them do the timing belt and everything possible went wrong. multiple trips back, wires routed wrong, missing bolts, they damaged my OEM radiator so they swapped in a parts store special and tried to push it on me, etc.

So, I won't ever use them for service, but they are convenient for parts for me. Order online here with a nice discount and you can choose to pick-up during check out for no shipping. Has worked well for me:

high rent area ...which normally equates to less than stellar support

@Jeeper Thanks for posting that. I had Cool Springs Toyota replace a broken wheel stud back in 2014. I had a brand new OEM part for them, yet I was charged $124 for labor. Thought it was a tad high. Regarding picking up parts with online ordering, I bet they charge you state sales tax right? If it's a big order, shipping would cost less than your tax, just saying analyze it for anyone thinking the same.

Also, I had a great experience with TLC Automotive working on my 100 over the summer. The shop is in Columbia, TN and I heard about them on MUD. I went to ACC in Atlanta twice before this time; now, I'll be heading back to TLC Automotive for any installs!

A follow up on this discounted pricing issue.

I called Toyota of Murfreesboro and spoke with Ivan about some parts availability and pricing. He told me that they are no longer able to offer the internet pricing on walk in orders (upper management decision). But, he said they have a will call option on the website orders. So, long story short, you can get internet pricing on local pickup items. You just have to order online and pick up later.
