Is it unusual to see a Hilux in the US these days? I saw what appeared to be a brand new one in South Alabama today. Just sayin.

I see them in Alabama/Georgia…typically being up-armored (or not) and always US military vehicles (for use overseas)

This one was just a silver normal looking truck. I think a Texas plate. Don't think I've seen a Hilux rolling around in person.

The current Hilux is sold in Mexico and it is possible to encounter them in the US. Generally it will be in states bordering Mexico, California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. The further north and east you get, the less likely you are to see them. In no case should you expect to see one with a US plate. Mexican license plates have the same general appearance as US plates so unless you know what you are looking at it is possible to confuse them.

I prolly saw a Me E co plate instead.

Tundras are not even close to Hiluxes . That's like calling a Super Duty an F150.

if anyone could spot a proto-type one-off 6/05 UCK41L 6-speed SUPER HILUX Cruiser Dan it would be you sir .... :D

im honored as always to be a part of your Fellowship of the Nomenclature ...

I see at least 1-2 per week while driving to and from work with Mexican plates. Not just hilux but other Mexican market cars and trucks as well. The plates I see are not really the same as the one you shared though. I will try to take photos from now on.

That tag shares the basic colors of a Florida plate and I’m not sure anyone local would even notice the difference. 😊

Adding these modern composite non-USA KOITo,s AUX lamps , them polarizing them stuffing the largest most 8000k cool white diodes into them as well
Has created a on-demand safer than safe wide range field of vision even on the most dismal of weather related nights ….

I’ve noticed the smaller Ford Ranger looks very similar to the Hilux. Coincidink or is Ford getting smart. ?

I frequently drive my Hilux around in Idaho Falls and the surrounding area. I've seen some newer ones with Mexico plates. But as far as I know, I have the only one registered in Idaho.

I called the state and got the Hilux added as an option on your title and registration. So, if someone else has one, they've registered it as a normal pickup.

Nice! I was blown away when i got the CO vanity plate "HILUX" I could not believe nobody had tried for that earlier. Also titled as a "toyota hilux" no issues registering, the gal at the DMV who did the inspection really loved the truck.

It obviously varies from state to state but most small town DMV’s are only interested in one thing.
A CHECK FOR THE TAG AND SALES TAX. 😊

Could this simply be a Tacoma with Hilux tail lights and stickers?
