I have been battling oil weeping from my CT26 oil seals and getting into the intake (my breather is NOT connected) and it had more shaft play that I would like. I started to look at options including the G-Turbos but I just could not drop that amount of money to get the thing over here. Looking for cheaper options sans a CT26 China copy I settled on a CT26 from a 7MGTE as other have done.

60$ and an odd Craigslist deal later I came up with a what looked like a hardly used CT26 that a guy had sitting in his bedroom for years :hhmm:

Took it home and took it appart and discovered that the oil inlet was almost plugged with what looked like Filter media so its a good thing I just didn't run it, I ended up ordering a 360 Thrust washer and sent the wheels/shaft out for a balance (cheap insurance)

Now that its all together and clocked properly I am stuck on the wastegate actuator, does anyone have any photos of a Supra Hybrid that anyone has done?.... There is one bolt hole that looks like it will line up fine but its about 3/8" higher than a stock 1HD-T housing and I am not sure if it really matters?

Here are some photos of my progress and where I am at.

Photo of the turbo on the left is a 1HD-T CT26 that I am used to get the right clocking thanks to John.

Are people that are doing that Supra upgrade using the Supra compressor cover? I would think to make it truly bolt on you would need to have the 1HD compressor cover profiled to the 7M compressor wheel. That would allow the actuator to bolt up. Next issue would be the turbine housing and if its different. Let me know if you need anything.

So because you clocked it differently from stock the waste gate actuator is not longer where it was? Could just grab some sheet metal and make a new bracket or an adaptor plate to relocate the factory bracket to the new location (easier) and use the factory one.

The 7m runs a different comp wheel, comp housing and turbine housing. They share the same turbine wheel.

How much would it be to get the 1hd-t housing machined?

Good work Christian!

From reading everywhere everyone just uses the 7M housing or else you would need to get the HDT one machined. I sent out a message to Adam and he might have some pictures to send me on Monday.

I might have to drill and tap the comp housing in order to make another bracket for it but he says I can use the HD-T actuator and it will work.

To build a hybrid for the 1hd-t, you can use a complete Supra turbo, and change the turbine housing to the 1HD-T housing, the best donor is one from a 7MGTE.
OR use the 1HD-T turbo, and purchase Supra compressor wheel and front housing.

The front housing needs to be clocked to suit, re drill the back of the compressor housing to accommodate the little locating pin, or remove the pin.
For waste gate actuator, I modified the original 1HD-T actuator and mounted it on the Supra housing holes. I cut, extended and re-bent the actuator shaft and incorporated an adjustable thread. If I were doing another hybrid, I would use an adjustable actuator from kinugawa (spelling??) Turbos on eBay , the have an adjustable bracket, and interchangeable springs.

That's the one, different springs are available to adjust waste gate opening pressure. Easy to mount to suit

That seems like a good option too, and I can get it in the range where I want it. Better than getting a boost controller and messing with it

Dealing with wastegate directly will eliminate another point of failure ( boost controller ) but still can be pita to adjust since it sits between turbo and engine ..

Hopefully you got my PM...but to help anyone else in the same situation, I did what mudgudgeon described. 7M-GTE CHRA and compressor cover with the 1HD-T turbine (exhaust) housing and 1HD-T wastegate actuator. In the comparison photo you posted I drilled and tapped the unused boss on the 7M comp cover so I more or less duplicated the 1HD-T hole locations.

I ignored the difference you've shown with the tape measure. I was already planning to use a boost controller so I have no idea how much difference that would have made to the "stock boost" setting of the actuator. Since the 7M mounting point for the actuator will put it farther away from the wastegate, it will take more boost to actuate the actuator :) but again it's hard to say just how much. If stock 1HD-T boost is about 10psi I am guessing that 3/8" difference will start you off at 14psi. One way to find out...

Bumping a really old thread. I suspect my wastegate actuator is stuck open. Is a Supra wastegate actuator similar or the same as a 1HDFT CT26 setup? Local buddy has a Supra setup and I’m pushing to be set for a trip. Gonna call Kinugawa to ask about overnight but I’m betting it’s cost prohibitive.
