That white Toyota "Body Grease", 08887-02007, is it really superior or needed? I recently rebuilt my rear diff locker and had a small tube of a similar product which wasn't enough for the job, so I just used Valvoline Synpower full synthetic grease. I'm going to R&R my front seat motor soon, another place where that mysterious Body Grease is used.

Is there really anything special to the body grease? It's wicked expensive. I'd love to hear from others who have used alternative lubricants - what did you use, and what were the results over time?

I'm having a hard time justifying almost $60 for a very small jar of Body Grease.

Maybe shea butter is the main ingredient.

I use white lithium grease.

IIRC it might have a type of PTFE (Teflon) in it, similar to Dupont Krytox, which is also very expensive.

FWIW I've used Dow Corning Molykote 33 for plastic gears, it's a Lithium based Silicone grease.

Edit: apparently the Molykote line of lubricants is now owned/manufactured by Dupont (FWIW):

I think Toyota is OEM Dow Molykote
I'm sure you can use alternatives that are cheaper.
