I put Celica PS on my samurai and am not getting any preformance from it. The pump doesn't make any noise like it is cavitating, I turn the wheels back and forth with the front off the ground and the fluid levels change in the reservior with no bubbles. I have tried bleeding it from the discharge side of the box. I ran PS fluid in it then switched to ATF and it seems to be a little worse. Any input would be appreciated.

Do you know that it was a good working pump prior to install?

Are the lines hooked up correctly?

The pump was working good. I believe I have the hoses hooked up right. I have the high pressure hose hooked to the port closest to the fender (correct me if I'm wrong please). It is off of a pre 81 Celica.

Is this how yours is?

Also, are the vacuum lines hooked up?

without it in front of me (at work) I'm goin to say no. And it doesn't have any vacuum hoses. It is a non IFS box if that matters. I'll verify in the morning. thanks

Some progress today. I tore the pump apart and reversed the "slippers" that contact the cam on the shaft. They generate the pressure. This goes against two exploded views but it generates pressure now. I have a squirting of fluid out of the shaft seal when RPms are up and the steering on the locks. I shimmed the regulator a bunch so I'm going to remove them and see if that solves the problem. Thanks for all the help and I'll update this when I'm done. By the way it needs a under drive gear (smaller) there is very little ps at idle.
