East Kootenays- Tie Lake. No wheeling but not a bad little cabin and little old boat to play with..

We loaded the M416 to the nuts with everything we thought we'd need to camp with the little fellow and headed out to Kettle River Campground on the river East of Rock Creek. The truck really doesn't notice the trailer and we were doing around 100 indicated the whole way. Arrived 2 days later at Tie Lake East of Cranbrook. The RTT I got from Andy worked a treat for the 2.3 of us and the trailer was totally dry inside even after driving through several thunderstorms. Had to drop into 3rd gear out of Osoyoos near the summit to reduce EGT- exceeding 1350 F. Trans never got above 175 deg. F. Truck has plenty of power for towing this weight. - passed several cars with hoods up. Could have held Overdrive had I not had to slow for the switchbacks. Thanks to John and Philip for the great work on the trailer and checking over the truck too. No issues. BTW- the boat is a 2011 Malibu tournament wakeboard boat with a fuel injected 383/ 420 hp. Pretty cool.. Will be wheeling, but on quads here.

The stop at Kettle River is worth it. We've camped there almost every summer since the kids were babies. Three different swimming holes, slow river rafting, it's a great spot for families.

Course they upgraded the campground with showers last year, so it's really in high demand now.

Good report on the truck!

Yeah we stayed 2 days at Kettle River, - we intended to float down the river but the level and speed of the water was too high, also the mosquitos were out in force, little bastards. We had massive lightning storms and a freak windstorm at the lake that shredded a teak framed umbrella and blew two wood Adirondak chairs off the dock into the lake which prompted a panicked fully clothed aquatic rescue mission. Thankfully I had just put the boat up on the lift for the evening. We drove up all the passes on the way here with the A/C blasting and had no issues with the truck. I think I saw 1400 degrees on the pyro very briefly which is a bit high for my comfort zone..

Tire report ?

Still running the BFG ATs. This was a highway only trip, didn't see the need to burn up the new skins.. Any ATV Experts? Spent the day blasting around the back country here on these things- Honda Rubicon Trail Edition? Anyway, they are most assuredly trail proven now! Couldnt find any reference to engine size but the power is awesome! Great ride too. I think I want one.. The back country here is just riddled with trails and roads- just North of Jaffray B.C. and there are a bunch of campsites along the lake shore..The lake is at 78 deg. F. according to the boat water temp gauge and crystal clear.

so we're in Osoyoos at the Sahara Courtyard Inn- nice bright sunshine and very clean place. Nice poole and new BBQs free to use.

Ran the truck over the scale- 1545 front axle 1600 rear and 575 trailer all in KG so a bit heavier than I thought.

Trailer towed perfectly! The truck was a powerhouse up all the passes, A/C on and cruise control. Also ran the console fridge on full blast all the time. You guys can all keep your 40 series!

Thanks to John and Philip at Ateb for making sure the Fam would have a comfortable, trouble free vacation!

Going topless, though dude, who needs air conditioning?

I hear ya though, we take the Subi on family camping trips too.

So the wife is happy with Land Cruisers now thanks to John and Philip? I think they need to raise his hourly rates for you then. Isn't that what happens with value added service. :D

Two things wrong with the picture of the malibu.
1. The rope is attached to the center pylon and not the tower (so obviously not wakeboarding)
2. no wakeboards on the board racks.

Teach those kids to wakeboard :)

s***e...we musta passed each other. I drove through Osoyoos around dinner time and am now in Castlegar. Got the HD-T'd 80 and towing the mt M101 (has the alu lid, and RTT on though...and will not be mt on the way back Thursday). I stopped and weighed as well: 1440 F, 1430 R, 500 M101.

Wish I would have read this post a while back. I would have stopped earlier at the KV Campground instead of pushing it late and now in a seedy motel.

ATV = Another Trauma Victim.

That's what they call them at Kamloops Hospital anyways. Get a dirt bike: Cheaper, lighter and they don't hurt as much when they land on you.

lol- No John, My wife just doesn't 'get' why I must continue to expend resources on a 21 year old RHD fuel hog. A failure of any sort on a trip would be very disadvantageous to my position. I guess I could always lease a new 4dr. Rubicon?

Hence the reason I rely so much on the Brothers Voo. And they certainly don't charge enough considering all of the extra effort they put into my rig. (either that or they fear my wife even more than I do...)

At home now, kid sleeping, having a Guiness. Ripped down the HWY 1 HOV lane- that trailer never bounced or swayed etc. the whole trip. Kettle River Campsite is awesome and the backwoods out near Jaffray would be a blast to explore.
