I need to tow my 2500 pound tent trailer on occasion with my FJ40, what type of hitch do you use for yours, I have a hitch in a home made bumper but I'm not sure I want to use it with the camp trailer, I do use it with a snow mobile trailer though, thanks in advance, Larry

Your 40 will carry a 2500 pound load with no problem, hitch wise a minimum 2 in ball is recommended, receiver with ball is best, Homemade bumper as long as it is secured properly should be OK

Ditto! as long as there is no rear locker. A limited, depending on make should be no issue.
Cruise and enjoy!

Just curious...how would a rear locker affect towing a small trailer? This is something I think I'd like one day.

I've towed hundreds of miles with a 40 that had a Lockrite in the rear. No problems doing that at all. Don't think it's anything to worry about IMHO...
