I want to tow my 62 with my motorhome, using a tow bar. I tried this last summer, and the cruiser wouldn't track. I am sure that I mounted the tow bar wrong...not directly to the frame...but was wondering, do i need to mount it lower or does it matter? Anybody try this. I have a 3" lift 33" BFG's, the dampener is new, tie rod ends new, steering gear box rebuilt. Not really sure why it wouldn't track except that i didn't mount the tow bar straight to the frame...HELP.

Is your frame bent? Also flat towning has its own problems. Are you unhooking the drive shaft?

The frame is not bent, and yes unhooked rear drive shaft.

I have towed 60's and 80's before using a tow bar hooked to an arb bumper( which hooks to the frame). My experience is that if the truck drives straight it should tow straight. I am still back to it not tracking straight on its own. If you can tow it over some light sand, you can look and see if the tires are rolling in the same line. I have even watched guys drive like this and see 4 tire tracks instead of two.
