Attached is an annotated user guide for the Baofeng UV-5r models (they all work the same no matter if they are V2 or + or whatnot). This guy went through the Chinglish booklet and corrected/clarified the instructions. Also attached are some other useful charts that I got from ARRL: common Q codes and the limits of what bands you can use with the Technician license.

Awesome thx.

I'll hand Andy mine at some point in Texas

I'm gonna need it before we go...seriously you guys spend the $50, get the gear in, then just send me the handheld radios. I'll give all 3 to one of my guys in the back, say 'here's the manual program these' and it'll be done in a day. I'll ship them back and all good.

For those looking for the cliff notes on the exam, found this handy booklet too. It shows you the basics of the only 2 formulas you need to memorize: Ohm's law E=IxR and calculating power: P=ExI. It also addresses specific diagrams and questions on the current batch of test questions. The specific questions are denoted by the serial number you see in parentheses, example: (T5C09)

Don't have a HAM radio? You can use walkie talkies amongst the HAM operators. All the HAM guys would have to use one of these freqs to match the FRS/GMRS channel.

...aw damn, I done mucked up the Camping thread:moon:

Lenny mucked up the thread when he misspelled "Campers". I don't think he intended it to be a camping thread. It's s'posed to be about sh!t you tow.

This radio actually doesn't 'feel' cheap. For $25 i'm fairly impressed.

That was my first thought as well. It feels solid.

You can even run over that radio in Hot Springs and it'll still work! We have tested them! lol
