towing an auto tranny

How do you guys tow an 80 with an auto tranny and a fulltime 4x4 with dead engine? Do you have to disconnect the front and rear propellers or you just have to put the both the tranny and the transfer case on neutral? tried looking at the search engine and found nothing.

Flat bed is best but if you have both front and rear wheels freely moving you will be ok. Both transmission and transfer in n position and center diff switch off of course. Never have front or rear wheels static seperately. All wheels free to rotate.

Got my info right out of the FSM. shouldn't need to remove the shafts as long as ALL wheels can spin freely.

IIRC that is only for short distance at low speed....
