There is about as much tuner products out there for 3/4 and 1 ton diesel trucks as there is on tuner cars and hot rods these days, WOW  enough to give you headaches. Now that the warranty is gone I was looking to free up some ponies and toss all the stuff choking and holding the Cummins back so after much reading and hearing from others in the forums I pulled the trigger on the H&S Mini Maxx and a turboback exhaust getting rid of the DPF filters. I hope I went in the right direction hoping the additions will help me improve in the mpg department and added power gains on the tow trips this year including the one to Coloardo/Wyoming this June. Debating whether its worth it to delete the EGR cooler I've already been runnning with it unplugged for almost a year :meh:

Those programmers work very well on those Cummins, drag raced a guy on hwy 90 with a H&S sticker on his back glass and it seemed to work in his favor. Hope your tranny can hold up to all those ponies, so you can enjoy puffing some smoke.

Josh nice to see you picked one of the best that Ford has to offer.

It is common for the ERG cooler to develop a crack and start leaking on these engines. If you have the time the cost to do a cooler delete is cheap.Just run a coolant hose between the #5 and #6 cylinder to keep the water circulating.Maybe some one can chime in but I see no benefit to leaving it on.
 nice choice on the Mini Max.

I heard it'll wake it up, planning to run the minimal setting for the mpg's mostly and hoping to nurse the tranny thought about investing in a better pan with additional capacity to keep it cool. My brother-in-law just did remap and exhaust on his 08 Duramax and is happy with it and the additional mpg's out of it. His is a daily driver

Thanks for the feedback Albert I'll plan on it while I'm at the upgrades. I hope to keep it around a while and want to get the most out of it :) How's the Hemi treating you, thats a good looking truck.

What kind of MPG's are you guys getting with your newer rigs? I get 18-22 with mixed driving around town and a little highway and I got 14 on the SCC trip.

I get 15 at 60/65 right now towing my 28FT camper, didn't check it last time I had the 80 behind it. 22/24 unloaded. Hoping to get a bump after the new mods.

Im hoping to work in a 6bt eventually.

My mpgs have been weird lately, but I figure its the different winter blends causing it.

I was most surprised at how my mpg changed with the same driving style because of the winter blend fuel. In fact my driving style would improve the first time my mpg would drop so that i could see if if was my right foot or the fuel blend. I came to conclude it wasn't my right foot causing it.

I will be looking for a dually hopefully in the near future.

I would appreciate any updates on mpg, repair work or general reliability issues.. All makes and models.

FYI Jrob had some issues with the tranny on his 3/4 ton 2011 F250. So he traded it in for a duramax dually.
I believe he had a fleet of F250s with the 6.0 and didn't want to deal with Ford after this latest issue. Both are very nice with a slight edge to the interior styling of the F250, IMHO. That F250 was like a hotrod!

I want something reliable that I will leave stock for better towing, handling and mpg.

Any info would be appreciated. Leaning towards the duramax or dodge mega cab.

More concerned about reliability than anything.. I wish Toyota would make a diesel dually!

Something like this would be nice..

X2 Lenny, I think we have enough customer's on MUD that would flock to own one myself included. We alway get the shaft on the good diesel vehicles.

Have you retired your DuraMax or is it getting to be that time?

The early 2011 F250s had tranny issues due to programming. Supposedly this was fixed with a flash update. I haven't pulled any big loads with mine, but have been nothing but pleased after putting over 18k on the odometer since August.

With that said if that yota would have been available, there is no doubt that would have been the route I would have taken.

My plan is to haul a 40 ft gooseneck with 2 rigs & a camper on it to complete my redneck ensemble..

So i think a dually at the very least is what i need.
