Well, upgraded to Sammy’s rig….. so might as well keep the same thread....
2004 dodge ¾ ton 2500 extended cab, short bed, SLT, 4x4, diesel. 147k miles, almost all highway. I bought it with about 100k, and bought it from same owner I bought my last 3 trucks. He used it to haul lawn mowers from Colorado to Texas/OK/KS.
Big deal on this is that it is pre-emissions, that came in 2005/2006, so no DEF and in states like CA, these are sought after.
I bought this to be my last truck, so I immediately took off the bed, flipped it over, sanded, primed and monsta-linered it to protect from rust. I added more tie downs on sides, (aircraft type) and lighting in bed and constant power for frig. Inside of bed was already lined, not sure of what product.
New touchscreen radio, backup camera, etc.
New front bumper ($2k)
New aftermarket rear bumper with big reverse lights($1.5k)
Headache rack
Gooseneck hitch B&M ($1k)
Amp research retractable steps ($2k)
Under 500 miles on new fox shocks ($750)
Tires have about 10k miles on them. Good for another 30k.
New stainless exhaust from muffler back
Has brake controller.
Chipped rig, with tons of power.
Has all the part on it for exhaust brake system, but I never used it, research was it was hard on transmission. If you want to use it, you will need to get the controller to lock up transmission before it activates.
Looks like prices are around $20-$36k for this vintage. I had Sammy look at prices and he thinks about $22k is fair friend sale price.

Bad things…
A few hail dents on hood, have not had them fixed. Front fender driver side has a crack in paint.
Tailgate is dented on inside, where heavy load was dropped on it, not visible from outside.
Transmission is perfect now, but I would put new valve body on it – heavy duty.
At night when you turn a turn signal on, it says a light is out and dings at you. I have replaced about every bulb on it, but can’t figure out the issue.
Tires are oversized by about 5%. Look better, but the speedo is off by that much.
Just realized that I don't have many pictures of it....
