Got the best of both worlds! Carl's UCA's with custom length Kings :)

my rear end should be perfect since the previous owner already did the "Shotts in the rear" mod :D

How much $$$ are the 100 specific extended kings running?

We've gotten our hands on the first round of these UCA's and they retail for $755. We are doing a special introductory price of $680. You can view the for sale thread here https://forum.ih8mud.com/ih8mud-com...r-control-arm-metal-tech-4x4.html#post6271465

We are also interested in seeing who is serious about purchasing King shocks. We are looking into becoming a King dealer and gauging the interest in the 100 series world. I see there has been quite a bit of discussion and if there is enough interest we can do a special introductory price on the shocks as well. Thanks!

That looks like a great intro price, I wish I could jump on it. A lift will be one of my last major mods (after rear bumper, skids, lockers) but when I do it I am really interested in the King/TC setup. I would really like to see a couple of long term users. I am probably at least a year out from the suspension. It would be nice to see these sold as a complete set for the 100. 1 stop shop.

What are the specs on the shocks, eg. ext and comp. length?

Carl's arms are soooo in my suspension plan now!!

So...what "affordable" shocks are available out there that are longer than OEM? I don't think I can afford the king ones. Like shotts has done in the rear...using longer old man e shocks...is there a similar old man emu shock that is longer and will work with Carl's arms to get the added droop.

Carl...I am planning my suspension now...what shocks would you suggest with your arms? Also, how long will you keep them on sale?

King shocks

We offer the king shocks as well. We offer the longer spec for use with my UCA's. They're not listed in their catalog. But check out the package deals. We offer full packages with arms / shocks, or with t-bars, coils, etc. We are the only outfit that actually has had a longer travel suspension with aftermarket arms installed and tested for 60,000 miles + These are proven. We'll have them at Cruise Moab this year.
100 series suspension packages

There is an incomplete spec sheet at the bottom of the page here. King Shocks Direct bolt-on performance shock kits for Toyota trucks and SUV’s from King Shocks « King Off-Road OEM Bolt-On Shocks : kingshocks.com. The ones listed may be for the stock height though?

I hope to see both manufacturers out at Cruise Moab this year so I can take a look in person.:)

I'll betcha a $1 you won't see Total Chaos there...

99% of what they make are desert racing products...

You are correct on that one, but you will see one of their Dealers ;). Metal-tech 4x4 is a dealer and CM11 is looking strong for us to be there. However not with a 100, most likely our FJ Cruiser w/ the Total Chaos long travel kit on it. Construction quality is the same.

The other thing you will not see is Total Chaos commenting on a forum. (company policy) Its up to their dealers to do so. Since there have been a few comments made about them based on photographs and not actually handling them we (all of us) need more information.

First a little history for those that don't know much about TC. As a company they build and sell ONLY performance suspension products THEY build and nothing else. They don't even build shocks, only the arm systems and supporting products. They are considered the leader in their industry and the ones who innovate most of the new IFS products. They don't even do installs. TC has been at it over 10 yrs strong and Matt the owner and engineer has over 20yrs designing and building performance suspension.

Total Chaos 100 UCA's:

These are new so I called Total Chaos to get the full back story on them. Here is the cliff notes:

1. Prototype's bench built using OEM UCA's to build the fixture. Then the propitiatory TC components were used to build the beta's.

2. The truck used to test fit them came in w/ brand new King Long travel shocks that had just been installed to work with the JT product. (This just happened to be the truck that was available)

3. The TC arms range of motion (i.e. travel) exceeds what the stock CV's and tie rods can handle. The only limitation is the OEM parts, IF you have longer shocks.

4. The correct custom taper adapter is used at the top of the spindle, it drops in w/ no movement before torquing it down. This is custom for the 100 and not the same as the common 05+ Tacoma's etc. taper available off the shelf.

Total Chaos specializes in UCA's they have a very large product line in doing so and custom make all their components to fit. For example they have proprietary bushings made so they can use over sized inner sleeves for the mounting bolt. Their bushing cups are a full 1/4 thick and the ends where the bushing hat's sit fully support the bushing. The list goes on and they don't sell off their raw components to others.

TC does all development, testing and production of their arms in house. Its a bit odd to explain TC parts being less expensive. In other product lines like the +05 Tacoma/FJC UCA's (we sell for $650) they tend to be $100-200 more than others due to the quality they put into the parts.

Cheers!

Mark, thanks for the info. I am interested in the TC UCA's and also interested in the King Shocks at the intro price. Hell, I'd like to see some of your 80 series style sliders for the 100 too!

Drop us an e-mail info@metaltech4x4.com and we can quote everything for you. As for the Metal-tech 100 sliders, the fixture is sitting down stairs. Few more tests and we can put them into production.;) Projects move at the speed we have open and we have been rather :wrench: busy. We hope to have these out very soon.

I think I need to buy a program to keep the players straight...

Mark-
Thanks for all the info. Bring some of those TC UCAs to CM in the back of the FJ.

Seeing as the title of this thread is "Total Chaos Upper Control Arms" I think it would be wist to stay on that topic. We all know there are other quality players out there and most of us know how to use the search function to find their products.

Mark/Helocat - Anything else in the works for the 100's? Front or Rear bumpers? I have the med stinger / bumper kit for my FJ40 from you guys and love it... I've been hoping you guys would start bending some steel for the 100's... Very excited to hear about all the new stuff coming out for the 100s!

Nah...I disagree.
I don't know off all the "players" and search doesn't save the world. I often learn more from slight digression from thread topics...as is the case here.

A little competition in the market doesn't hurt either. Understanding the TC arms includes seeing how they compare to others in the market. I would love to see friendly arguements between consumers, retailers and manufacturers...explaining why one choice is better than the other.
