I couldn't see the torque specs for the tow loops in the FSM.
Sorry if I missed it somehow.

Anybody knows?

(standard bolt table shows 80 or 90 ftlbs, btw, but looking for something more specific if any...)

My tow loops??? When I originally put the hitch on and reinstalled the tow loops the instructions said 75 ftlbs.

this were Toyota instructions, Brent?

there are standard torques in the front of the FSM, for a flanged 8T fastener torques are

Code:
diameter in mm, torque in foot pounds
8 24
10 50
12 90

note, diameter of a fastener is the shank not the hex head.

Opps just went and looked my fronts (OEM) are not flanged,

So torques would be

Code:
diameter torque
 mm foot pounds
   8 22
  10 45
  12 80

I guess that is what happens when you rely on a  soaked memory

The standard refernce table is EXACTY where to look in this case.

yea, but did you figure out what an 8T is in the real world...? :D

E - same type bolts from Kaymar into the same bolts/on/frame for their bumper, converting from newtons, I think, came out to 74 ftlbs. Two sources, both come out the same.

How did I miss this the first time I read this thread? Sorry to be redundant.

Not that I can find. If it is there it may be in an odd spot that we would not think of.

Jeez - what more should I say. Specific instructions on the reinstallation of the tow loops that bolt onto the frame that came from TOYOTA with an OEM hitch - 75 ftlbs.

Same holes, same bolts, instructions from Kaymar, converted from newtons to ftlbs, same result.

You want to have an engraved invitation with the ftlbs embossed?

if it is a 12mm bolt 75 is pretty dam close to 80, at work we often get a range, most of the time it is wider than that.

ok E 3 sources in the same range, go with it.

And if you don't E - I'll personally drive north and whack you up side of the head with one of two torque wrenches I own. Small one if you grovel, big one if you don't. hehehe :D Just kidding dude! :flipoff2:

sounds good to me, well the number parts, not the whacking part :)

I put them in at 85... Will go down to 80 next time I'm under.

eh, btw, a reminder, I busted some fittings recently cuz my torque wrench (a good one interestingly) got out of calibration without telling me... Better watch out with these guys. (seemed like a lock nut fell out....)

and to think that before I got into cruiserhood I was just tightening everything by feel.... sigh.... the good ole days.....
