Tools needed for shock replacement (1 Viewer)

Search is killing me. I just need to know what size wrenches/sockets are required to replace the stock shocks (front/rear).

I know the top nut is 22mm because I took it to napa to try and get a flex wrench (which they didn't have).

Searching here / youtube I'm getting that the front lower bolts are 19mm and the rears are 17mm?

Is that correct?

So I need a 22mm, a 19mm, and a 17mm and vice grips and I should be good? (aside from other basic stuff like jackstands).

HINT. Drill a hole, just big enough for your socket wrench in the floor above the top shock bolt. Seal with rubber bung. Next time you will change that shock out on 15 mis. I wonder why the factory does not put a port there.

Sawzall. And a ratcheting flex head 22mm wrench is a must...buy the right tool for the job or take it to someone.

People always sit there and struggle it’s the same story over and over. That’s why I just bought 2 of the best sawzall blades I could find and cut them all off. Going back on was a flex head ratcheting 22mm. Though unfortunatelymy IM foam cell pro shocks had a 21mm to but so I had to buy another flex head ratcheting wrench

The 22mm deep socket is already in the mail so I think I'm going with the hole method, mainly because I had to apply a lot of heat to the front nuts to get them to break loose and I can't see how I'm going to do that from under the truck. (I mean, maybe, but why struggle?)

The LC has 208k miles on it, it could stand to use a few holes at this point.

Sawzall straight through the bushing. No heat needed.

What kind of blade for the sawzall? I think I just have standard combo blades (wood/metal) with a pointy end.

really nice metal blades whatever the best you can buy is. Combo blades won’t cut it. Pun intended.

OK, so. I'm done.

I could get the driver's side out super easy on the ramps, 20 minutes, no problem. Spent probably 2 hours on the passenger's side though. Tried the box wrench and multiple strap wrenches underneath to no avail. Drilled a hole in the upper shock body and stuck a screwdriver in it, and in the end had to drill a hole from the top, which is what I should have done in the first place but the ease of which the driver's side came out fooled me.

I ended up using all the tools I bought for the job anyway.

Then I go to put the spare back in and I find this:

So... I guess I need a new one? The spare is still original size because I hadn't really decided what I was going to do with it going forward.

Oh and I got some K02s done in my driveway yesterday, 275/70R18s:

I love them.

What do I do next?
