i met with a local snap-on rep today to get my pry bar replaced and it got me thinking. i think UC needs a tool sponsor. So I told the snap-on rep about UC and asked if there would be some way we could get a club discount. In summary he said, each rep is a franchise owner and has to abide by corporate "turf" boundaries so that rep's don't step on each other's toes. What's hard is that these boundaries tend to be very limiting, i.e. there are at least three reps that cover Greenville alone. For this reason he said he alone couldn't really offer us a club-wide discount since we have members from all over the southeast. He did say there was a chance we could contact corporate and see if we can get a discount for online purchases, which is how it works for student organizations.
Whether its with snap-on or not, I think finding a tool sponsor would be worth looking into. What do you think?
The snap-on rep did say that corporate offers monthly promo deals through their franchises like buy a pneumatic impact, get and air ratchet free kind of thing. I gave him my email and told him to email me with the promos so if i hear back from him i'll pass it on.
