So as not to continue to muck up the Braun Work Light thread...

@PAToyota
Off point request, but Plz share the wheel standed thing!

What's on there, a vise?

This is the plan for mine as well, still gathering ideas though ;)

Yep. It's a vise stand. They welded a VW brake drum to a truck wheel. There is another stand that is similar to your right side drawing - the one with wheels on it. I can get a picture of that for you.

Along with other things, the Shop does work on MDT and HDT vehicles and trailers so there is a regular supply of used brake drums, rims, and other components available that find their way into other uses.

I took a truck brake drum and a couple VW brake rotors so that I could unbolt it for transport for my planishing hammer stand.

I cut the center out of the one rotor in two passes on the lathe because I was a bit unsure about how things would go releasing that much metal at once. As it was, it wasn't an issue and I could have just cut off what I needed in one pass. I had visions of the cut piece dropping and tearing out across the floor of the shop... 😳

@DRANGED - here is the work stand with wheels.

And I've pulled aside a drum for my Fireball Tools DIY Vise build.

A drum base for "Stumpy" our metal shaping stump. I need to find a good stump to make one of my own.

A few other vise stands.

One for a grinder.

The shelf is just a tube and rod for the swivels - again, just scrap materials floating around.

And a material roller support.

The adjustment on that is just a nut welded to the tube with a bolt and a piece of rod as a handle.

DIY at its best! Nice!

I have a grinder on a base built -did not build it myself- on some sort of huge truck brake drum as well. Surprisingly heavy and stable. I like it!

(and good idea to move this discussion here btw - thx)

Oh sweet @PAToyota !!
Thanks for sharing separating this out of the Braun light thread and for showing all these wheel-stand tools!!!!!!

I was thinking of a school bus drum for a forge idea, AND was granted access to my pick (but haven't been able to retrieve it yet...)

Yes, that one with the wheels was the concept I was envisioning (burley non-swivel steel wheel casers), but maybe 3" wheels and offset from ground level a bit , so tilting engages the wheels.

That DIY vise looks amazing!!!

I dig the roller!

RE: stumpy... cool idea and maybe ya'lls need an anvil [too] ;)

I keep trying to convince them that it is of limited use being only semi-flat.

I also have a Gene Winfield style pipe anvil on my list. Just need to make the effort to acquire some drops of different sized pipe. I do have a gas cylinder that didn't pass inspection that I think would be a good part of it.
