I am considering buying a 2000 model out of IL with 108K miles but I live in MS and dont really encounter rust. Is this too much rust or nothing to really worry about?? I need a great, safe family car and LC's are the best drive around. Thanks so much for your advise!

How much? I just got a 2000lc with 100k miles for 14,500 a bit steep but my grandpa owned it and babied it! No rust/oil every 4k/ and water pump/tbelt done!

Yes..
Surface rust on the axels and frame is one thing, while not ideal it's manageable and can be cleaned up and painted theoretically if it's not too bad. rust on the body however is unacceptable.
