Is there such a thing as too much offset? I was digging through the MRW wheel website and found that they will make any wheel with any offset at no change in price. I like a wider wheel but more for the offset than the actual width. I also like my beadlocks but I guess for whatever reason I am finding that these are probably a bit impractical for everyday use.

So I was looking into a 15X8 with a 2" offset. So too much stress on studs/ knuckles, steering etc or probably fine considering a lot of people run spacers without issues?

your 2 cents appreciated.

Clint

Are you talking about offset or backspace? +2" offset on a 8" rim is 4+2=6" backspace--yeah that's too much for a 15" rim. -2" offset is 4-2=2" backspace.

sorry I was talking about backspace. I had offset on the brain after reading through the MRW tech page. Yes 6" will not work. But 2" backspace would clear but my concern is too much stress at the studs for the wheel.

people do it all the time. not the greatest idea, but it works..

it can be a little stressful on wheel bearings and axles, but i dont think its anymore stressful than a standard wheel with spacers, you have to have some back space to clear your springs with larger tires anyway, so if you like the backspace than i say do it ,

If you think about it, an 8" rim with a 2" BS has 1.5 inches less sticking out the fender with .5 less sticking into the fender well. I'd say that it's better for the axles than running a 10" wheel with a 2.5" backspace.

Lemme clarify that. 10" rim 2.5" backspace = 7.5" on the outside of the mounting surface with 2.5" inside of the mounting surface. 8" rim 2" backspace = 6" outside of the mounting surface with 2" inside of the mounting surface. If anything, the 8" rim in this case would be better for the axles because there is less rim sticking outside of the mounting surface.

those look nice. custom backspace or off the shelf wheels?

Whatever wheels you put on there just be ready for some scratches on Rubicon. I am not taking light buff out scratches either. I would get some bead locks.

i had 10" wide wheels on my old rig with 2.5 back space with the same 33" tires i run on my current rig and i really liked the look made it look like you had bigger tires , how ever when you push the tire off the bead it was a lot harder to get it to seat back up , thats why i have 8" wide wheels know, here is some pics of my old rig with 10" wheels
