DRIVING !!!! 400 miles each way...(actually more because I'm going to Natick, MA first, then up to NH)

TSL's and A LOT of ear plugs. I'll probably do well over 1,000 miles by then end of the weekend...

Keep a rachet and socket handy and tighten up those new u-bolts as you go.
Really sucks when they loosen up.

I agree, make sure you tighten them up at about 300 miles and then again at 700 or so. It would suck to shear a spring pin that far away from home.

The 40 looks great!!! Where'd you get those storage boxes?

Magic transfer case

We had some nice weather today for a change so I planned to grease, lube and top off all the fluids in the 42 today. I was bummed when I realized I have one of those magic transfer cases that can make its lube disappear and reappear in the trans. So I spent the day yanking the trans and tcase. Perfect excuse to install the H55 sitting in the garage.

todays progress:

2" foam for the backs and 4" foam for the butt.

They seem very comfy sitting in the driveway even with the 3/4" plywood. We'll see how they are on the road tomorrow.

I love that thing.

Have you checked to see if the #'s match, the one that climbed Mt. Fuji.
The tires that are on there, were the original design and test pattern to be carved by (offroaders) for BF Goodrich to help design the Crawler series.;) (as well as many other designs)
The tubed out rock buggies of today don't realize the fun that was to be had in a Landcruiser from the past.:steer:

Splitcase rebuild complete and installed on H55. Glad I caught it in time. Some of the bearings were in bad shape but the gears are all still OK. Now to spend the next few hours swearing under the car trying to install it.

Pleasantly surprised how easy it easy the H55+splitcase went into the 42. I've read lots of threads here on Mud about how tight the fit is getting these things in. It was much harder to install the H55+Toybox+splitcase in the HJ45.

The H41 that came out of it is already sold. (Thanks Wally.)

ya if you go nutz you can have it done for FG:grinpimp:

Rick I thought you grooved them thar tires?

I was using 20/40 Black Diamond (coal sla, same thing as black beauty) but had to switch to a fine grit as I couldn't get it to flow through the blaster. Not sure if its 30/60 or 40/80 as the line goes through both indicator boxes on the bag. Maybe its a mix of the two.

Its $8 for a 50lb. bag at Tractor Supply.

Legal for another year! Passed with no problems, he never even got in it, just had me run through the lights and horn, he only looked in at the dash to see the mileage, who knows if a lit CEL or ABS light would have mattered.
