so after searching around a bit, i`ve been unable to find a straight answer on the whistleing exhaust thing. mine is a `96 LC (with pink panties still intact). some say whack the resonator off, some say don`t as the whistle will get worse. the exhaust system is in very good shape so i`m not so keen on replacing everything from the manifold back as recommended by others, just don`t like the whistle. so, to whack or not to whack? that is the question.

it whistles stock. you just don't really notice it b/c it's routed straight out the back.
take the resonator off and it will whistle louder.

I have resonator/side exit and I can hear the whistle w/ I accelerate. I'm scrapping the whole thing and getting a new muffler- jacked it up on some rocks.

Stock some whistle probably from a leak in the exhaust somewhere.

Remove the rear resonator, and it will whistle with RPM change like a turbo spooling up.

Replace the stock central muffler with something else and the whistle disappeared entirely on mine.
