So I haven't driven my rig since I got 35"s (brakes), but I'm thinking about the benefits of keeping the stock ratio...

Better mileage?

Lower RPM at highway speed?

I know my crawl ratio will be all messed up, but I'm going to be using the truck for expedition-style trips, and the occasional crawling weekend warrior-type stuff. Should I go with at least 4.11s? I have them in my garage, I guess I'll just see how she drives on the highway...

I did a lot of research and from what I found that if you replaced your stock gears in a 60 with 4:88's and ran 35s you would pretty much have the same as before on stock tires. So, that is why I went with 4:88s. I haven't done it yet, but I think it's the best gears.

i am runnign the stock gears with my 35's. 5th gear would bo totally useless with the old 2f, and the third to 4th shift is pretty big so i find myself in between a lot. the v-8 helps it since it has lots-o-powa but i am regearing as soon as i get the rest of the stuff done. 4.88's for me.

I liked the stock gearing.

even with just expedition driving you need to go to the 4:11 at the least. I have 33's and had some trouble taking off up hill out in colorado. I really works your clutch if you dont do something.

2f

4.88's

35" tires

would not trade back to stock if you paid me.

this set up has a little more power on take off and top end is not affected.

engine stock with weber 38mm header cat converter delete (b/c we could do that in louisiana) and a 40 series flowmaster.

regear it makes a huge difference especially if you are thinking of 33's or bigger

love it off road and it is my daily (beat out my 05 gmc quad cab)

def a future h55f swap.

Yeulp!
I was gonna ask you about wether or not you had re geared.
When I went to 35s I had the guy that set up my diffs check the books. 4.88's were what it called for, and thats what I went with.
Its a spendy deal, but from what Ive heard from folks who were running big tires with small gears...worth the coin to do. I knew going in that I needed that done, so I budgeted for it.
The guy I went through is in Carson, and also had the best price around. 500.00 per diff incl gears, bearings and install. That's IF you bring the thirds to him...

While doing gears, nows the time to put in that locker(s)...
