Yeah if I recall right it kinda broke things up and moved us along after the F bomb was dropped by Casey. I was glad he did it! The BRC/TLCA thing is a no brainer to me. Why talk about it for 45 min. Just do it.

Later,

Highlights as I saw them were:

1) TLCA agrees we all need to work harder on communication
2) Ideas were offered for Chapter bonus of some kind for 100% TLCA membership (we're screwed:rolleyes:)
3)Discussion on decision made by elected BOD rather than allowing a vote
4)Calandar sales fund raiser opportunity was discussed - need more info but it looked like too much risk for too little return to me...
5)Current membership stands at 3294 - up 45 or so
6) Gregg Mum from the Blue Ribbon Coalition spoke to the attendees about an idea to temporarilly combine our orgs in a membership drive. A dual membership offering at discounted prices may be offered to new, renewing, or extending members for a few months. Along with the discounted membership offering there will likely be some vendor support from 4WheelParts in the form of a gift certificate for the first month or two of the drive. More detail is needed but it seems like a good opportunity to me???

Call duration was something like 1hr 48min and we quit there.

That is all...

If it is alright with you sir, I will be borrowing (er...stealing?!?!) your summary to post on TTR's forum. It was thorough and well done.

Cheers,
Matt

That's funny right there sir!

As far as Daryl, I'll trade you my hood w/ the Penis on it for the hood that you got from Kowboy.

...you said it, "all the cool kids have one" You can have it.

My membership expires today ... after many, many years.

I no longer own a Ty-ota vehicle so I no longer qualify for membership. :meh:

Thanks Daryl for makin' the effort to represent our Merry Band.

We're all just sittin' back to see how long you can put up with the bull****. :grinpimp:

I figure puttin' up with yer bull**** is good training...:flipoff2:

I do think a great idea was hatched around the Clayton campfire (I believe it was Josh) and that JP should be nominated as our Alternate Delegate just to add a little variety!:hhmm:

:bang::bang::deadhorse: That is how I remember the meetins.

That is the BEST use of emoticons I have EVER seen!

I owe you one for that Roger!:lol::lol:

About the bull s***, you're right Daryl!

About the Alternative Delegate, I don't know if I'll have the time to listen to more BS.
...Keep in mind, my neighbors are A US Customs and A Mexican Customs.

I'll have to go through a lot of red tape to do my work.

If'll do this, What am I going to get in return?

HINT:may be that hood w/ the lil' ears

I'll always have said it, this bunch of rebels and renegades sure know what they want and got their s*** together.

The WToE is always known when they are present.

Daryl you're doing a wonderful job.

Let me know if you need some help

Ha! Ha! later

Some additional info on the joint one year membership proposal with the BRC and TLCA posted on the Lone Star board:

"means this:
in conjunction with brc, we are thinking of having a "joint" membership drive. brc is reducing it's dues, as is T.L.C.A., and we are attempting to offer a membership that will get you in to both clubs, at a $40 price point. brc has arranged for a 4wp gift card of $25, so your effective membership into both groups is $15.
brc will handle new member apps, as well as renewal apps, and all money and membership processing for their end, and we will handle all money and processing for our end.
they will gain access to the national member list, but will not be using it for any purpose, other than to handle the brc end of the deal.

the purpose is twofold. first, and most obvious, more members for both groups. second, and only slightly less obvious, for T.L.C.A to be able to present an option that involves the membership in more land use issues, as many people say that we don't do enough, even though there are already plenty of groups dedicated to this endeavor. this way, we won't be stepping on the toes of the groups that do this work, but we will be helping, by swelling the ranks, and the dollars available to support them. and hopefully, bring others back, or into our club for the first time.

that help??? any other questions, just ask, i'll be glad to help."

Please send me a PM if you want more detail on these discussions or have a strong feeling either way. Thanks - Daryl

I'd say ... if'n I was a member ... to let BRC handle ALL the membership process and then we could get rid of our $30,000 administrater. Maybe give them an extra coupla bucks per TLCA member for their efforts ... and we'd still be money ahead. :hhmm:

That sounds like a deal to me. I haven't really ever thought about joining the BRC. I went on their website and like what I read.

30k Holy Crap! I'm sure this 30k person earns their pay on a 1:45 conference call but past that what do they do?
I can't see them fielding more than a couple of calls a day and a few emails.

They can pay Den Mom Deb 30k a year. She would get some s*** in gear!

30k for a association with what 2500 active members at best? Wow!

FWIW...I would just like to point out that the TLCA Administrator took a VERY LARGE PAY CUT earlier this year which has saved the TLCA a great deal of money. As to the number of calls they get. It's a LOT more than most think and I've seen the CDR's (Call Detail Records). And there is a lot more that the TLCA Administrator does outside of memberships and answering the phone.

Not everything is what it may seem on the surface.

...As you were.

Cool Art. Hate someone got the meal ticket cut but just seems like alot from the outside looking in.
Thanks for your time and energy on the TLCA board.

What Art said x2.
Jennifer makes $1800 per month, is available almost 24/7 because she routes the TLCA number to her cell phone. She served as the EVP and has been a board member for almost a decade. So, she knows what needs to be done and solves problems before the Board of Directors gets involved.

FWIW (& Kowboy knows this 2)... TLCA has about 1000 active members, the other 2400 or so are magazine subscribers only. If TLCA goes down, it will lose its two biggest expense items. Toyota Trails and the Administrator. TLCA will need volunteers to take up the slack. We will no longer run like a business, we will just be a car club again.

Thanks for the bandwidth,
Happy Trails! N

My thoughts, fueled by a hard day working on a f'n bathroom a and 4 Shiner Bocks:eek::eek::flipoff2:

I would hate to lose the magazine.......
but worse hate the fact that folks that serve on the BOD, and President have fractured relationships doing the job........folks that I know are stand up guys and had no intention of doing so...
