TLCA Call tomorrow - input?

There may be one or two fractured relationships, but I think that the more interesting note here is the sheer number of ex-active BOD peeps that still hang together as members of the WTOE:

The cumulative weight of what these fine folks have given the TLCA over the years has been enormous, the effects of every one of their leavings has not gone without notice, and, when Nick's prophesy about the TLCA comes true, you know the WTOE will be there to help pick up the pieces because, dang it, we still care.

My question is: if it is costing almost all of the membership fee to publish the fancy magazine, which is keeping the 2000 members that don't attend events, don't participate in the association, so if you discount the membership are we going to cut back the magazine?

I've posted a couple things to the BODREPS list that last few days. I've had one response. That was from Romer. Granted, it's a holiday weekend, but I'm hoping that folks will offer more feedback tomorrow pre-meeting.

Basically, I see it like this. If the ship sinks, the mag goes, chapters stay alive. If the BRC thing happens, we gain some new members and folks that have been around for years if they choose to renew, fantastic. With that influx of money, we can get the magazine back to the way it was a year ago and then focus on other things...(rant removed).

It's really up to the chapters as to what happens. One way or another this little association ain't going away.

I'm just a member and a club delegate for Tall Corn Cruisers. (rant removed).

Packman 73 is just a lurker in this here forum, he needs to go back to his chapter and speak up over there.

This is what is going to do in TLCA, the association is not and will never be large enough to support that kind of Magazine and do anything else.

When is the last time that the TLCA has sat down and taken bids for another printer etc? Heck, we changed conf call services and have saved over 2K this year on that alone...

Well folks, this one call ain't gonna fix all them problems you have listed but I'll do my best to voice your objections/concers as the opportunity presents. The call tonight is only to vote on the membership drive in partnership with BRC. We can vote to partner but offer no TLCA discount, to partner and offer a small TLCA discount, or not to partner at this time. It looks like to vote will go in favor of offering a small discount unless I miss my guess. :popcorn:

I just spent some time reading some of the discussions threads on the TLCA forum here on mud and I am exhausted.

there's a lot of good ideas there but I keep hearing about the BOD's not doing much and living in the past.

usually the way it works for us, we take our BOD's outside of their comfort zone for them to make/take decisions on issues that need immediate attention. It usually is NO DIVIDENDS AT THE END OF THE YEAR or will cost you double if we wait for next year.

you seem to be very active on the TLCA issues and you are in the right track sir.

OK - the vote passed by unanimous acclamation so look for an opportunity to renew, extend or join TLCA and BRC at a nice discount very soon! Guys, this will only benefit TLCA financilly if about one in eight takers are new member applications or members that would not have renewed without the special deal. Tell your friends! That is all....

Daryl or Art, Will this deal extend my BRC memberhip? Can I opt out of the magazine? I really don't need any more and I don't think TLCA needs any reason continue on it's destructive path of printing more then it needs or can ever sell. Is the multi-year option available with this promotion? Not saying I'd do that but just curious.
