Saw this on the tlc4x4 website. Anyone have any more info or pictures on this truck? Looks a lot like one I saw in Memphis a week or two ago.

TLC = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and then some more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

They do great work, but it comes at a cost.

Dynosoar:zilla:

X2 on the cost. I used them for one thing on the truck, due to an emergency, and was utterly floored by the cost. When I showed my regular mechanic whom I totally trust, he said his price would have been close to a third of TLC's cost. I am NOT saying its bad work. Its solid work but its not worth a 300% premium.

I dig the barn doors too! :steer:

same scenario happened to us - used TLC once based on emergency. I know the owner, jonathan. jay is a good guy - knows his sh*t, but like everyone says... you'll have to sign over a few paychecks & child support payments for the same amt of work elsewhere. I think its cuz they're so close to the westside - its owners w/ $$$ to burn & plastic w/ no-limits...

not to diss TLC, but they got some sweet rigs on their lot :grinpimp:

nlxtacy- where do you get your rig serviced?

That is an FJ 60 that was not sold in USA. We got the tailgate/liftgate doors instead. If you see a FJ60 in another country it will more than likely have the ambulance doors as seen in these pics.

Well I am in Woodland Hills but when I used to work in the automotive industry I learned who was good and who wasn't reaaaally quick.

I use Jerry at Enterprise Import Service exclusively:
Enterprise Import Service, Canoga Park CA 91304

Two doors down is K&H which handles exclusively Landcruisers. I've heard good things about them as well BUT Jerry has been perfect so I see no reason to switch.

thanks for the referral
x2 on K&H - rich & moises are honest cats.
hope to see you :steer: around the valley

It's actually a possibility that those doors were added by TLC. Jonathon had a few sets imported from somewhere a few years back. IIRC Toyota left provisions in US 60s for those doors with minimal modification. One of the imported sets found its way onto the "140" they built. *(140 was a 1984 FJ60 on top of 80 series drivetrain/supercharger)

but yes Dan, Amby doors were not ever offered here in the states.

Bryan, I've seen a white 62 with barn doors like that in Jackson before. Had shelby county tags. May have had aussie mirrors. Left hand drive.

I wonder if it was the same one you saw?

old pics, pretty sure I remember this one, it was a US spec 60 with non US barn doors and non US wing window front doors and other stuff, guessing it was done 4+ years ago

Those are some old pics because the TLC lobby doesn't look like that anymore and the FJ45 wagon parked behind it was one that they built many years ago. Any FJ60 is just a few bolt holes away from having ambi doors, kinda like the rear seat belt conversion. I had a set of the doors in hand and didn't do it at the last second because I realized that a tailgate offers a place to sit and the ambulance doors wouldn't. :D
