Seems like a good price for a well maintained last year locked 80. Seapotato, you could put your 12ht/h55 in this rig...

Lexus LX450, Toyota Land Cruiser - $4500

Badly needs front axle service, cracked exhaust manifold, leaking oil badly, some undercarriage rust but I thought the price seems ok. He told me it needs a bottle of oil every 800km. Has a pending sale, If it falls through Im going to look at it this weekend.

Ive been trying to find an an 80 to combine with a JDM driveline.

If you buy another VW is the 61 going up for sale? Or keep the cruiser for trips and use the VW as a daily?

Not sure...depends what I buy. May not be a vw, I'm less worried about mileage than I am it being more fun to drive. It'll have to get mid 30's or better but, that's a lot of cars. (just not subarus...)

Commute is tedious in the 61 right now.

I'd love to throw the 12ht into a 40 series something or other, but...flogging the thing as a whole would fund building said 40 series and a car...

If I do that tho, I'd probably end up with another damn 3b, and I'm almost sick of that whole scene. Decisions, decisions.

Haha, thats hilarious man. You've only had the 61 for a year or so now? I am interested to see what sort of commuter you end up with tho.

Ya thats Owl Ridges' (old) truck. I saw it when Jay Robbie and I were at his place. He had some long winded story about its past but I doubt any of it was true.

Unique rig but I'd never fit in the damn thing. Plus, vehicle history mean a lot to me. Owning that truck on the pretenses it wasn't a mine truck would be like marrying a woman and then finding out she used to be prostitute. Not my cup of tea.

If you look closely in this picture you can see one of the other (yellow) mine trucks in the background. I have never seen such abused vehicles before. I should have taken pictures of these poor things but it was too depressing.

Mr. Owlridge was clever to take photos that don't show the mine truck graveyard around his property, it was clear that you need at least 3 mine trucks to make one that might actually pass an inspection.

Yeah, when I learned it had been owlridges, my heart sank. Your analogy is about right. For the right person, the truck has good potential though.

Before you even look at that thing, look at the previous posted 75 with custom camper, etc for twice the price and 10X the truck.

That HZJ75 has ~500,000kms. As cool and rare as it is, I do think it is over priced. I'm not going to go for the BJ75, but if I did, there is a lot I could do to it for the $10,000 I had left over! That and if the BJ75 motor truly has ~125,000kms, it would be that much longer before a rebuild is needed. The high km HZJ75 is probably near engine rebuild time which would set someone back $5000 probably. Just my thoughts on the two.

My old 75, sucks that it went to Jordan. Yeah a part of me misses that thing but in the end it was a single cab pick up. It sucked being 6'7" not to mention it need a s*** pile of work. Not the best for my situation at the time.

It had close 425,000kms if I remember correctly. Ran like a champ. If I had that thing still I would have had a 12mm pump and 30lbs of boost going into her. Better yet a 1hd-t.

If another one came up I would be tempted if the price point was right.

That truck has been around, haha. Cool that it started with you though. Funny how the current seller says it has 115,000kms not 425,000kms+. And Jordan said it had 113,000kms. Wonder if he rolled it back before he sold it...or swapped gauge clusters with one of his mine trucks maybe.

Karter,

Was the above truck the one you sold to Jordan? (the deal that caused you all the grief)
What was its mine truck history and how was it legally registered? (he told me a story about it being the boss' own run-around truck if I remember correctly)
How come it shows 115000kms now? do you think Mr Owlridge swapped the cluster with one of his other mine truck 70 series?

I'm just curious...... I dont want to stir up a hornets nest or anything here. I know anything Owlridge can go south in a hurry.

wasn't it one of the two (or three?) that managed to get imported and registered before toyota or the gov't clamped down?

Like mike's in van, didn't actually spend any time in the mines..

Although, his had an hz not a 3bII, so maybe not...

That is not the same truck Karter, you had the HZJ75, this one is a BJ75. The story on the HZJ75 that lived up in Dawson Creek from new is a guy bought it right from the dealership in Prince George and owned it till Karter came and flipped it (sorry Karter but it's true ;) to owlridge who did a bit of work to it and flipped it as well. Not sure where this BJ75 is from.

The hzj75 is what I had, not the bj75 that is currently for sale.

I had the intention of keeping it and fixing it up. Buying a house with a bit of land at the time I did was far better for my long term instead of a rare land cruiser project. I wouldn't have a piece of property remotely to close to what I got let alone the opportunity getting one in my childhood neighbourhood.

If I had it right now I question where I could park it, not to mention it would be continuing to corrode away sadly.

Yes it's a sore spot Denny, for you and I both and I truly appreciate the help you gave me with that truck. I had a smile on my face the few months I drove it.

ha ha, Karter, just bugging you, it's not a sore spot. I flipped a crusier once when I was in university too (guy that bought it put $70,000 into and won best in show at cruiser days the one year he drove it down from PG, so I sold it to the right person;), plans sometimes change and we need to realize life doesn't always revolve around cruisers ;) I will always call you a flipper though ;)
