We need a "train de-railment" emotocon. LOL.

None the less.... I do enjoy a good back and forth, cocktail infused difference of opinion(s).

Personally, as long as an engine doesn't have a carburator I'm cool with it.

Same, love the 3B in my cruiser and would never change it out unless it was a gasser....

Glad we could entertain....

:p:p

Talking bone stock, the the 1hz rips over the 3B, does not need a turbo but its fun with one liky the 3B...

Would I spend the extra money on the 12ht yes, even more for a 1hz...yes, still even more for a 1h-t or FT oh hell yes.....

Its just money son..

Oh man you cannot even say h e l l on mud any more, whats this world coming to...

Now son, you do realize I wasn't comparing a stock 3b to a stock 1hz, or even both with turbos...? :p

But nah, they're ok I guess, my issue with all these high faluting fancy ass jdm motors is that they are INSANELY overpriced, and over hyped for what they are.
( although the unsolvable $$$ smoking issue never ceases to amuse me. :grinpimp:)

yeah, that's been on kijiji for ages...started out as an 84 with a 5 speed for 2500.

I emailed a couple times back when it was allegedly an 84, but never heard back, and then the ad changed to say it was an 80, so that was the end of my interest.

and really, it's a parts truck, but I'm not even sure what would be useful for parts. if it's an 80 it's probably a bj40 not a 42, so you don't even really want the engine. :meh:

Yip that was after I looked at it and read the vin tag.... B diesel one piece tcase old schoooooool:cheers:

Told the people it was a 1980

I am sure many of you old cruiser hunters like myself and Spud have many a story about cruiser you have gone to see....
Long before the internet(I know some of you youngsters do not remember those days) I use to follow vancouve island buy sell, once found a red 1984BJ42 up in Black creek for 1500 bucks in by todays standards not to rusty. Long story I walked then called the guy back the next day and someone came up with a trailer and got it...

I have owned only one other 1984 Red BJ42s off the island and I got that one from Duncan.. Thats another story...

PS never owned a green 1980s BJ42..Owned a factory 1984 with interior factory hood latch and interior hard door handles front doors..++

Edit, one more comes to mind in Cedar, 1982 olive brown factory like the usa models, looked under the dash to see if it was a paint change...NOPE, that truck and a second for 2200 and I passed DUUUUUUU.

yeah, I can always tell when you've been there before me.

The dog is walking funny, and there's tongue marks on anything that was even a remotely rare factory option. :flipoff2:

When I picked up my old 70, it was a gift from an old guy to kid, kid sold it to me two weeks later.....old guy not happy.

I could sorta read his lips as I drove away...something about fuzzy socks.

Not sure I had that right tho.:meh:

Friend purchased the hunk of rust, we are stripping it down on Sunday, I get the warn 8274 for helping him:p, maybe some other bits...

I think the wiring harness is a keeper, might just cut the fire wall off and keep that with electrics..

Thanks for this thread. I bought the powder coated rims. Keep the listings coming : )

Nice. They looked really good! Any pics of them on your truck?

Judging by the background in the pics and the well detailed add descriptions my guess is that these are John's trucks. If anyone wants to get a closer look he's having a BBQ at his shop on the 15th I believe. I'd be interested in going if anyone is up for a small road trip.

Wow! This place just never ceases to amaze me!! I'm more curious to see what RETARD pays $40K for a 20 year old wrong side drive truck... OMFG!

I think he's hoping to get out of it what he has into it. These are real niche trucks and the demand is high while the supply is low. So who knows, he may just get the money for it. All power to him if he can.

Personally I only get about 50% out of my projects compared to what I have into them (parts alone never mind labor).

I have about 1/4 his asking price into my Prado now (purchase price and a lot of parts). Personally I could not conceive of spending 4 times as much to get the 6 cylinder, 9.5" rear axle and leaf springs. I like the coils and my 2lte runs like a champ.
