I really like that, too bad it's $14,000. more than i have right now. With the top of it sure makes the box look long. Did they make a version with a shorter box?

Yes, they. Did.

If i bought one of these as a wreck to restore i would chop the box to end just behind the rear shackle. It would look better and way better for wheeling.

yeah the overhang on those things is unreal.

makes a 60 look like it has a tight ass...

The shortbox ones were quite different, the bed is basically a variation of a 40 tub. I like the style of the long boxes better, but they actually look really good with the newer 70 series beds on them too.

There's a pic out there of a nice one in europe, olive coloured with portal axles I think.

That's the route I'd go. The beds seem to go for about 1500 bucks from that place out east that gets the trucks ready for mines. Not bad price really, provided you can get it shipped cheaply.

If anyone is curious I know a guy that brought 2 extras in. Shipping for those $1500 boxes was $1500 each to Vancouver.
He has already cut and mounted one on my old 75 an it looks great

Yes it would but plan on spending 5X what you payed for your truck. 1HZ's aren't cheap.

Yeah...this.

I so wish this board still had the barfing emoticon.

Those things are the fat, sequin encrusted Elvis of all the over priced, over hyped jdm trucks that were ever imported.

If someone GAVE me a 1hz I'd probably run it, but it's far more likely I'd sell it for roughly it's weight in gold to one of the yanks who's lined up waiting for one like a randy sailor in front of a whorehouse after a 6 month cruise and put a 3b or a cummins in it's place.

Coincidentally, it's weight in gold is also what you'd have to spend on it to get it to out perform a turbo'd 3b worth 1/10 as much.

I was going to continue ranting about the diesel section on mud, but I'll leave off for now.

Perhaps tomorrow. :grinpimp:

Haaaaa, had a couple cocktails, gonna reply to your appraisal grass hopper...

Yep the 1hz does commend top dollar, it is a much nicer smoother and builds great torque.. Turbo it an its down right soooweet.. Ya, you gotta do a timing beld which is the least paintfull of any engine I have ever done including (especially) my tdi golf..

Apples and oranges, no comparison.

I would easily pay more for this engine over the 3B...

Ran a 1hz turbo intercooled to California in a fj45, it ripped with 33s and stock gearing, ran on the highways at 75MPH and hit the dunes at Pismo....Worked great all around..

Ran a big mountain climb following Sheldon and Greg from GS Cruisers in a 1hdt 80 series and ate them on the climb,, ya I know the trucks weight in a little different..

so it rips....AFTER it's turbo'd eh? :flipoff2:

I guess that's so that shiny valve cover doesn't get all sooty from the 3bt exhaust in front of it eh? :grinpimp:

If I was going to spend 5+g's on an engine, I think I might choose one that didn't need another couple thousand in aftermarket help .

(although that valve adjustment silliness alone would probably put me off them forever)

I was actually referring to the 77's in general as much as to the engine tho.

Last evenings riposte was somewhat cocktail fueled as well, but I still agree with myself this morning. So that's good.

"just money"

Easy to say when you've got it, and the only person working in your household didn't just get dismissed without cause... no notice... and 60 minutes to leave the premises (after 4 years in the position and 10+ years with the company).

I'm getting sick of "Chamagne tastes, and a water on tap budget" :bang:

All this discussion and no one even knows how much the guy wants for the thing.

Buy it as a unit, part out everything but what you want, and it probably wouldn't be too bad cash wise at the end of the day. Elbow grease goes a long way. Most people don't have the patience or time to properly part something out and recover their money though.

Wonder if it's locked? Front locker is probably the number one thing I'd be interested in from that unit. That and the wiring/switch for it.

We need a "train de-railment" emotocon. LOL.

None the less.... I do enjoy a good back and forth, cocktail infused difference of opinion(s).

Personally, as long as an engine doesn't have a carburator I'm cool with it.
