Buy for half that amount, swap in a goid 3.4L.

On the surface it sounds like head gaskets and valve cover gaskets. I’d be most worried about the owner neglect that just tops up the rad and oil despite it leaking 0.5-1 litres a week. Not to mention broken CV and no speedometer.

Salvageable... yes. Worth asking... no idea.
Can of worms... yes.

Engine and transmission are fairly easy to replace. Body looks decent and owner claims no rust... but is that by eastern standards or Arizona standards?

My starting bid would be $1000. Hire someone to do the rest. If it’s running, doesn’t really
matter, it runs. Unless it’s puffing pure white smoke. Then I’d
have to tow it home. What 5 speed would that be?

Those 3.0 motors are considered one of Toyota's worst engines. Poor power, poor economy, and issues like that truck has.

I think some of the later T100's came with the much better 5VZFE 3.4 V6. Could swap one I suppose.

Well, for $1500 what the heck. I’m the tenacious bugger. I’m not sure if I’ll keep the box or replace with a deck. I’ve found a replacement hood already. Saw a paint job on another, not a fan of fat chrome on the nose. It’s got power windows and AC. The 4.7 has been well taken care of, fluids are all clean and new. Underneath is spotless, not a drop of oil or anything. It’s not ever left Victoria nor been on a dirt road.
Another Toyota in the driveway anyhow.

Crazy... only $1500.
I’ve never owned a “Truck”

Unless you count the 45 that had no engine, trans, frame, or body. I worried that it wouldn’t hold together well enough for the tow home. At least 1’ of the drivers side frame rail had evaporated.

I need another vehicle like I need an extra hole in my head.

congratz btw

Ambulance is basically a truck? Truck frame and drivetrain at least.

Congrats Jon; I'm looking forward to seeing what you make of it. I think it was a fantastic deal for a very solid truck.

I’m thinking Glider Loveseat Lawn Chair on platform in back, ala: Beverly Hillbilly’s
speedboat chrome speaker bar, crash helmets.

Just googling, and thought something like this would be useful and look nice. Cool thing about these trucks being 'new' and numerous, is there is a ton of stuff available for them.

NOR WELD. The US distributor is near Allentown PA. Been there. The ‘basic’, no option starting price is
$7200 USD.
Fantastic workmanship, out of Australia, of course. Absolutely gorgeous to walk around the shop and showroom looking at the stuff. It really kinda blew me away. I will copy with impunity, but I won’t lay out that much money unless I win a lottery.
Express Trailers in Parksville makes trays starting around $4K CAN. Looks like first year apprentice welding and design compared to NorWeld. Oh, and I checked. The $4K version has a wood deck. Pfffffffffffft......
