That's a pretty cool 5MT as advertised. It's got the straight-shift 5 then, with the cool, wide-brake pedal... the clutch pesal is integrated into that pedal too. That was a super-deluxe option I think.

I’m sure if you ask they’ll even put a lifetime warranty on the Clutch. Guaranty the clutch will never wear out ;)

Won’t last

Sounds like scam you out of your wallet when you show up to buy it.

Yeah, there's enough of that Idaho front license plate showing it's likely not a local picture. Coulda been one zero out on price, but mileage in miles is suspicious too.

One of those extremely rare finds that I regret being late to. This is worth two to three times what they're asking. LHD diesel manual transmission low km: 2000 Toyota Landcruiser
If it makes you feel any better I read on another forum that a guy test drove it and said it had what he felt was serious engine troubles. Smoke for days and a serious lack of power.

That makes me feel a bit better.....thanks. Although even if the motor is pooched, still a reasonable deal I suppose....

So, it can be had for less then??

Well, if you consider in good condition with those km's they go for about $35k, then even with a completely ruined motor I'd say $12k is still quite reasonable. A used 1HDFTE is around $5-10k. I'm confident I could swap in a weekend. End cost might be around $20-22k. Still a heck of a truck for that price.

I read some of the info on people who test drove this truck (facebook). Sounds like it's not making boost and not burning clean (diesel smoke). But no mention of compression loss or burning oil. So I'm going to say there is a good chance the engine core is ok, and it's probably in need of a bunch of servicing and maybe new turbo.

The electronic injection system on the 1HDFTE is fundamentally the same as on my 2LTE. Most mechanics for some reason just can't handle these systems. To me they're as simple as any same year gas electronic fuel injection system. I'd say their is a good chance the electronic injection system has some engine codes to be dealt with and could just be in a 'limp' mode.

Folks on face book were thinking maybe gasoline had been put in the motor. Not sure where that came from, but if so I'm going to say the whole injection system will be ruined...

John Armstrong the name sounds familiar is he the guy that drove to California with his 40 in low range?

Is that an axle housing he is selling for 50$ ?
Yes. Looks to have the brakes and 3rd also.

The snorkel for $200 seems fair enough

Axle is sold.

I’ve got too many unknowns to even consider a snorkel. I’ve got a TPI fuel injection setup sitting on the shelf... it’ll be enough of a project without trying to add a snorkel into the mix.

When is the last time you drove threw 3 1/2 foot of water? I wouldn’t worry about it.
It’s been a few years since I dunked the headlights under the water and filled them part way up.

And before that a water crossing that had water halfway up the doors and over the front fenders... fortunately it kept running even though the distributor cap was filled halfway up with water.

What's the story with driving to California in low gear???

Haha it's worse than that....8000km in low range.

somewhere around page 8
