Just beat me to it.

On some level I'd love to be able to drive that.

On every other, I love being able to fix my junk.

Course my version would be some f***ed up thing with an 80's Diesel in it that'd never pass any emmisions test.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. Except I'd put a 1HDFTE in it.

A bit wide for a 40... 12” longer than my current one. Seems a bit wide for the front.

Runs well but overheats... May have a head gasket problem...
It's a Renault thing, new like that from the factory

For those of you that use rockauto, I get emails periodically about parts that are closing out, etc.

What caught the eyeball this time was cruiser ujoints for $2.60...

Ordered a few. Hopefully they turn out to be the right ones...

Old mechanic at the boat yard I worked at would always say they get so much power out of marine diesels because the cooling was so much better, so they can run them harder.

The guy was completely full of s*** and could barely spell his own name, but I did think that sounded reasonable at the time.

I think that is true. There are marinized versions of the 1HDT, 1HDFTE, 1KZTE, 1KDFTV, 1VDFTV, etc. from Toyota, and they all make ~50% more power than the truck engine versions. It makes complete sense to me, as you'd always have a perfect intercooling and engine cooling. Lots of cold dense air, and no concern for over heating. Crank up the boost/fuel!

Seriously though, inboard/outboards suck, but if the engine was diesel it would make it more palatable. 120hp would be good in a lot of the 17' hulls? Double eagle etc.

Yeah best thing would be idling around using nothing for fuel.

Legs are awful things tho. There's a version called a saildrive. No steering required so just a leg down under a sailboat hull...where it's hard to check on.

A guy was late on his zincs or maybe bad wiring at the marina but when pressure washed you could see the gears. Aluminum went to mush.

So his 1k haulout became a 10k haulout. Actually happened twice within a couple months. Second guy opted to repower with a shaft and prop...that was probably closer to 20k

This is why I don't have a boat!
