He must be getting married...

The weird thing is, I thought he had a BJ60 with a turbo 3B? And it looked totally different. Of course I tend to be about 5 years behind on where people are at with their projects, and Lachlan doesn't participate in the club/forum anymore... @franken60

It's his buddy's.

Now the price is high, but when added all up to be honest could hardly be built for the price
and the build quality is high. I don’t know why but I always figure modern everything should
get the engine to be more efficient.

That would be a nice family and light towing rig. Bit beyond what I would want to spend though; especially in this day and age of uncertainty.
Yeah just thought it was interesting, I can't imagine forking out that much right now.

Might need the money if the bread lines get to be around the block like the old Soviet Union.

It's a bit surprising, Mel's crv is getting long in the tooth, so she was thinking about a Tacoma.

I've been flagging the ads that seem only moderately overpriced to get a handle on what is or isn't a good deal.

****in things are still selling. Course now, she puts 5km a week on it instead of a few hundred so it's not that pressing

Buddy is selling another. Must be importing them to resell for profit. Those are good efficient powerful little engines, but I vaguely remember something about the injector seals or something having an issue where they dilute engine oil with diesel. It's fine if caught fast enough, or seals replaced ahead of time. Something along those lines. $19,750 · 2000 Land Cruiser Prado TX Limited (D4D Engine) Also, I believe these trucks are pretty much the same as a 3rd gen 4runner as far as the frame and running gear go. Around 2003 they get significantly beefed up and are the same as the GX470 we got here. Towing capacity doubles around then, and the D4D diesel is still available in them (KDJ120). As far as newer vehicles go, I think one of those would be pretty nice. Almost as good as an HDJ100.

I think for what Tacomas are, they are just plain over priced. I think the North American build quality is not that great either; puts them on par with some of the better domestics IMHO. I think Toyota's somehow managed to still ride the reputation of the first gen Tacomas and their earlier high quality made in Japan vehicles. I was thinking fairly seriously about a 1/2 ton or smaller pick-up for quite a while (still am if the right deal comes along), but it won't be a Tacoma.

Yeah there's a reason we haven't bought anything.

Also don't think a small truck is really what she wants, but need her to drive some stuff and see what she likes. Has to be standard too, which is a pretty major limitation.
Either way, no rush.
I want to get rid of the Celica too, but plague infected randos wanting test drives doesn't really appeal. It might just stay parked .

2 x 3b and 1 B engine. 700 for all

Nice rims for those brave enough to have Facebook ;-)

Sorry, not a cruiser. But this looks like something @cruiserpilot might be interested in. This has the OM602 if I'm correct. Apparently one of the longest lasting least issue turbo diesel MB engines. At 98,000kms it has a lot of life left in it.

So it begs the question, if these cars get legitimate 40 mpg. Why aren’t more people aware of that.
I had no idea they were actually that economical.

I have no idea if they do get 40mpg or not. Might sort of be like "all BJ60's get 30mpg". In any case, most people have no interest in owning such an old car no matter how good the fuel mileage is. And a lot of people are hesitant to buy diesel because they don't know anything about them either.

Personally I've owned mostly Japanese vehicles, so thats what I'm comfortable with. The idea of owning a German car scares me for some reason; although I'm often attracted to them.

The one my folks has does high 30's. They say 38 is average, and they're that weird old people cheap.
They'll buy s*** for hundreds of dollars and not blink, but if something costs 12 bucks when it was supposed to be 11.50 they'll hold a grudge for years.

It's why I tend to believe them about mileage. Probably have that s*** down to the penny.

I'll have a better look at it soon. I've ordered glow plugs for it. (6 bucks per at rock auto)
Just have to plan the operation. Essentially how will he get the beer to me from 8 feet away while I change the plugs.

Easy enough to check: Mercedes-Benz 190D MPG - Actual MPG from 37 Mercedes-Benz 190D owners

Fuelly is a site where you can put each tank of fuel and see how your economy is, I used to use it. But because you put in the mileage + fuel amounts it's a little harder to cheat on, and you have no real incentive to so I've found it to be pretty accurate in terms of real world mileage.

Well, same goes for the women. Self preservation? LOL! Apologies for lack of PC!

I hear either fishing net, or cup holder taped to hockey stick.

I wonder if that's the one in chemainus. I've heard there's a minty one hiding not too far from my parents place.

All that rust is gonna be impatient to get started after 30 years of waiting.
